Amazing!

For the first time in a century, bison are moving like the land remembers them.

Not wandering. Rebuilding.

The real detail is what their hooves leave behind.

In Yellowstone, researchers tracking large-scale bison movement found that migration does more than shift animals across a map. It changes the grass itself.

As herds graze, trample, shed, wallow, and fertilize, they create a living patchwork. Some areas are clipped short like prairie lawns. Others are left tall. That unevenness matters, because grasslands do not thrive as one flat carpet.

They need disturbance. They need rotation. They need heavy bodies pressing life back into the soil.

Even grazed areas can regrow strongly, and studies found the plants may become more nutritious after the bison pass through. The herd is not just eating the prairie. It is editing it.

A century ago, that rhythm was nearly erased. Now, with every slow, massive step, the old system starts speaking again.

The prairie did not forget the bison.

It was waiting for their weight.
