It has been a quieter week here on Facebook, but there is still plenty growing and blooming behind the scenes.

While the flower cart is paused until the Plan Commission meeting on June 23, the garden itself has not slowed down. I’m still cutting flowers, making deliveries, and keeping up with all the early-summer blooms as they arrive.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out, checked in, or asked how things are going. I really appreciate the support more than I can say.

I’ll keep sharing what’s blooming, what’s growing, and little pieces of the flower season as we move through June.

Calling all jelly jars, tiny vases, and cute little containers hiding in your cupboards. 🌸

I’m planning another flower donation for Meals on Wheels and could use some help gathering small vases or jars.

I’ve donated flowers for this in the past, and it is one of my favorite ways to share the garden. The flowers go to people in the community who may be elderly, homebound, or have difficulty leaving their homes — just a little surprise bloom to brighten someone’s day.

I’ll be making the arrangements and getting them to my friend Al Kegler (Jo Lynn Kegler), who volunteers with Meals on Wheels and helps deliver them.

If you have any clean jelly jars, small mason jars, small glass vases, or little containers that could hold a small arrangement, I would be so grateful for the donation. Feel free to message me or leave them on my covered porch at 838 E. Madison St. Waterloo

Red Bilita Flower Cart Update 🌸

The flower cart will be temporarily closed while I go through the City of Waterloo’s conditional use permit review process.

I submitted the application proactively after the recent Plan Commission discussion so that the cart can be properly reviewed and documented with the City. The next Planning Commission meeting is scheduled for June 23, so the cart will remain closed at least until a decision is made.

Thank you so much for your patience, understanding, and continued support of locally grown flowers. I’ll share updates as I know more.

In the meantime, I am checking what options may be available for flowers outside of the cart and will update you when I have clear guidance.
