This post makes me a little more emotional than I think most people will understand. As a kid, my parents worked their asses off for me to even be slightly competitive in this sport. I watched friends import and buy and lease the nicest of horses while I sat on the sidelines and free leased the most amazing horses I could get that did so much for me. I unloaded hay, did stalls, catch rode, anything that would give me any opportunity to ride horses and I got so lucky to be a part of it. This horse went to someone that posts all over and calls himself a professional and it just makes me sick. As the rider, I could almost cry at how quick he just trusted me and wanted to stretch. It’s a little heartbreaking that people like this are in the industry because I’ve always had so much faith in trainers and I feel sorry for anyone that is in his path because this is not what horses is about. We need to do better.

Taking some time to feel extremely fortunate to get to ride so many awesome horses off the track and get to have two of my own. Things have been busy and productive and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

*found a home*
I have this really awesome horse in my barn right now that does have a story but is really deserving of the best of homes.

Tom’s Gold 🥇 4 year old (2022) that was just too slow to race and never hit the board.

We sent this horse off to someone we thought we trusted and that many others of you in the horse world do when the winter storm exploded and we were flooded with horses. When he got back to us he was very skinny and beat up with bites and cuts all over his body. They definitely let all of racing plates fall off and never did his feet. I have now done all the things, his teeth, his feet (I put fronts on him), simple grain and hay that he has easily gained a ton of weight on. He is by no means a hard keeper. In fact the exact opposite. He goes out with my two mares who can be quite “opinionated” at times…. And does just fine, definitely a low man in the herd but just stays out of the way and does his thing. He is a spur and crop ride, I actually call him Tom the turtle 🐢 but he has tons of step and go when you do ask. He is safe, simple, and a dream horse as a first restart or ammy. He is young and going to look amazing filled out. He has super tight clean legs and just needs to keep working on his muscling. This is a great chance for someone to get a really nice young easy horse. He is RRP eligible and located in Waterford, VA.

Rest in peace sweet Tucker💙

Tucker update is not the one we wanted 😔. While he has been gaining weight and has kept a bright, spirited attitude this whole time, we have seen minimal improvement with treatment of his hind end. The vet was scheduled to re-check Tucker this morning but he was found down and unable to get up this morning at daybreak. In the couple hours waiting on the vet’s arrival he was never able to stand. While he did scramble to stand and succeed as the vet arrived this is not a life he deserves and we did peacefully let him go. RIP Tucker boy, you are free from pain now

My horses…..primarily living out most of winter with the absolute horrendous weather we’ve had. Barely being able to get worked and still shiny, healthy, happy, good weight. The things that make me happy💗
