Colby just had his go-home lesson from our Board & Train program—one of many follow-up lessons to come!

Debra and Mason absolutely knocked it out of the park. They were attentive, engaged, and did an excellent job learning how to continue Colby’s training journey.

One thing that makes our Board & Train programs unique is that the training doesn't end when your dog goes home. Follow-up lessons are included with every program because these lessons are really for the owners. They are an essential part of creating long-term success and are required for every student.

The boys working recalls off critters and other competing reinforcers.

The last few videos showed the genetic makeup and differences in each sporting dog. One prefers to retrieve. The other prefers to stalk and point.

Both dogs doing exactly what they were bred to do, just in different ways.

In this video, you’ll see recalls, the dogs coming when called. Pay attention to the response times. Not because one dog “knows it better,” but because each dog has different speeds, motivations, and ways of interacting with the world.

Not all dogs are the same. Genetics matter. Drives matter. The dog in front of you matters.

Last video, we watched Colby work the ducks in the pond, doing exactly what he was genetically designed to do. The way he moved, stalked, and worked the birds was all baked into his DNA.

Now here comes Jet, the Labrador.

Watch closely and pay attention to how differently he works the ducks compared to Colby. Different breeds. Different genetics. Different purpose.

See if you can spot the difference in how each dog approaches the birds. If you notice it, drop it in the comments and let me know what you see.

Watching a dog do what it was bred to do is one of the best things you can give them.

In this video, you’ll see Kobe completely in his element. The way he works scent, the way he stalks, the way he moves — this is genetics in action. This wasn’t taught. It’s who he is.

Too many people pick dogs based on looks, there human emotions, or trends without ever thinking about what the dog was actually bred for.

Dogs were created with purpose.

Even if you don’t hunt, herd, or work your dog traditionally, you can still create games and activities that fulfill those natural instincts.

A fulfilled dog is a happier dog.

Let dogs be dogs.
