Sophia L’Orange Kitten Rescue Our mission is to rescue thru foster care pregnant/nursing cats w/kittens, orphan kittens & find loving homes. We also work w/ community TNVR programs.

As a kitten rescue, we know can’t foster & adopt way out of suffering that comes from overpopulation.

SHIPPAN — Stamford bottle baby, 2 months old, ready mid-September

If our kitten Shippan were a neighborhood — he'd be exactly what Shippan Point in Stamford is: the standout on the peninsula.

The real Shippan is the place everyone notices — it's surrounded by water on three sides, has its own little temperate zone (warmer in winter, cooler in summer), its own beach clubs, yacht clubs, parades, bake-offs and Doors of Shippan holiday contest. Classic New England on the outside — Cape Cods, Colonial Revivals, big showy waterfront homes — but refreshingly different once you get to know it. People say you can't walk far without falling into the water.

That's our Shippan the kitten. He came to us as a tiny bottle baby from Stamford ACO with his three white brothers Westover, Cove and Glenbrook, and right away you could see — same bottle-baby heart, totally different coat. Claudia says all four are very cuddly and love being held, very playful, love to climb — and Shippan is all that, just in black-and-white.

In your photos he's doing exactly what Shippan Point does best: being right in the middle of it all. Paw over the playpen edge while his brothers eat in the background ("hi, down here!"), perched on the top shelf of the cat wall checking the view, or making himself at home on that famous white fluffy blanket — which, let's be honest, is exactly the kind of blanket a tuxedo kitten deserves.

White with black patches, pink toe beans, a little Charlie Chaplin mustache, and the biggest "pick me!" eyes of the litter.

Shippan would love a home where being the odd one out is the whole point — and where cuddles are always on the calendar.

GLENBROOK — Stamford bottle baby, 2 months old, ready mid-September

If our kitten Glenbrook were a neighborhood — he'd be exactly what Glenbrook in Stamford CT is: a small town with a big personality tucked inside the city.

The real Glenbrook is famous for keeping its own distinct identity. The New York Times wrote that "many residents see themselves as living not in a bustling city, but in a separate small town." It's got its own train station, its own shops on Hope Street, its own parks and holiday tree lighting — connected to everyone, but happily doing its own thing.

That's our Glenbrook to a tee. Foster mom Claudia cracked up telling us: "He sort of does his own thing but thinks he's doing what they are doing." While Westover and Cove are team-escaping the playpen, Glenbrook is off on a solo expedition — same mission, different route. See him perched on that cat wall, on that fluffy white rug, on your dining table — always observing from his own little angle with those huge, serious eyes.

He came to us as a tiny bottle baby from Stamford ACO with his brothers Westover, Cove and Shippan (the Stamford Four), and Claudia says all four are very cuddly and love being held, very playful, love to climb. Glenbrook is all that, just with his own quirky compass.

White with the perfect gray cap — almost identical to his brothers — but you’ll know him by the look that says "I'm with you guys... my way."

Glenbrook would love a home that appreciates a little independent thinker who always circles back for cuddles.

WESTOVER — Stamford bottle baby, 2 months old, ready mid-September

If our kitten Westover were a neighborhood — he'd be exactly what Westover in Stamford CT is: woodsy, a little fancy, and quietly adventurous.

The real Westover is tucked between wooded lots and Mianus River Park, with big old estates behind the trees, hiking trails right next door, and a history of defending the area from Fort Stamford. It feels rural but it's only a mile from downtown.

That's Westover the kitten. Foster mom Claudia says when she unzips the playpen, Westover and his brother Cove are always the first two trying to make a break for it. He's our little park ranger — see him perched on top of the cat wall in his photo, very proud of his climb. He came to us as a tiny bottle baby from Stamford ACO with his three almost-identical brothers Cove, Glenbrook and Shippan, and he has been scouting the highest spot in every room since.

And just like the neighborhood, he's also a softie close to home. Claudia says all four are very cuddly and love being held, and Westover will finish his expedition and melt right into your arms.

COVE — Stamford bottle baby, 2 months old, ready mid-September

If our kitten Cove were a neighborhood — he'd be exactly what The Cove in Stamford CT is: coastal, curious, and always ready for an adventure.

The real Cove is where city meets the shore — beaches you can walk to, a wildlife sanctuary at Cove Island Park, fishing piers, and those little shingled cottages along tree-lined streets. It's easygoing but always looking outward.

That's Cove the kitten. Foster mom Claudia says when she unzips the playpen, Cove and his brother Westover are always the first to try and climb out — and you can see it in his photos, paw over the edge, big eyes scanning for what's next. Like his namesake, he just wants to see what's beyond the harbor.

At heart though, he's a cuddler. He came to us as a tiny bottle baby from Stamford ACO with his brothers Westover, Glenbrook and Shippan, and Claudia says all four are very cuddly and love being held. He'll lead the expedition out of the playpen, do a full perimeter check of the immaculate white-carpet room, then boomerang right back into your arms.

Cove would love a home with a window to watch the world — and a lap to come home to.

Mama Maki update — late night edition:

Mama Maki has a recheck appointment tomorrow at Roxbury Animal Hospital to recheck her labs.

Today I got to see so many of the folks who saved her life at their open house for their new facility — and got to see the isolation room that she christened. They all worked so hard and we are so, so grateful.

Tomorrow will be two weeks since I made that call — "before we do any more supportive measures, I just want to make sure it's not something worse." I hadn't even been thinking panleuk, honestly. She was just so malnourished, even when she first got to the clinic before we got her, and then taking care of 7 newborn kittens.

But something told me this wasn't just coccidia. We do preventatives for that at intake, and thank goodness we do, because she had that too!

This is something we all need to be able to do — get medical care when we're concerned it's something bigger than we can handle. How I wish we all could. How grateful I am that we could for her. With the vets' help, with your support, with all the care.

More after her labs tomorrow. For today, she's been eating, cuddling, grooming — and that's everything.
