Meet our beautiful, brave little wobblers! ๐พ๐ค
These sweet 5-week-old kittens have quite the origin story. Their mama was humanely trapped as part of our TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) efforts, but she surprised everyone by going into labor and having them in the cage before surgery.
Sadly, one of the kittens didn't make it, but these two resilient little panthers are thriving, happy, and absolutely full of love.
If you watch them play, you might notice they tumble a little more than the average kitten. Both of these siblings have Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH).
What is CH? Cerebellar Hypoplasia is a neurological condition that happens when the part of the brain controlling fine motor skills and coordination (the cerebellum) doesn't fully developโoften due to a virus the mother contracted during pregnancy. It causes them to have a "wobbly" gait or tremors when they try to focus on a toy or food.
The most important things to know about CH:
๐ It is NOT painful.
๐ It is NOT contagious.
๐ It does NOT get worse over time.
๐ CH cats CAN live incredibly long,
perfectly happy lives!
As you can see, they certainly don't let their wobbles hold them back from an intense wrestling match!
Whatโs next for Mama and babies?
The kittens will be ready to wobble into their forever homes in just a few weeks once they are fully weaned and vetted.
As for their beautiful Mama? Once her babies are ready to go, she will be spayed and safely returned to her outdoor home. She will get to live out the rest of her life with her cat colony, completely free from the physical toll and burden of ever having to survive another pregnancy.
Keep an eye on our page for updates on when these special babies will officially be taking adoption applications!
