“We are so happy to celebrate Ruby’s recovery! After a broken leg and a long road to healing, she has come such a long way.
On May 26th, we received a call that Miss Ruby had been hit by a car and they were on their way to the clinic. After 11 weeks of multiple cast changes and trying to keep a 2 year old German Shepard contained, Ruby is ready to go. Congratulations to both Ruby and Mom!” (Rita Miller)

When temperatures rise, pets can overheat much faster than people. A few simple precautions can help keep them safe and comfortable.

* Provide plenty of fresh, cool water. Refill water bowls often, and consider placing multiple bowls around your home and yard.
* Keep pets in the shade or indoors during the hottest part of the day (typically late morning through early evening).
* Walk dogs early in the morning or after sunset. Avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day.
* Use cooling aids such as cooling mats, damp towels, fans, or a shallow kiddie pool for dogs that enjoy water.
* Never leave a pet in a parked car. Even with cracked windows, temperatures can become life-threatening within minutes.
* Brush your pet regularly to remove excess fur, but avoid shaving double-coated breeds unless advised by your veterinarian, as their coats also help insulate against heat.

Watch for signs of overheating: excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, bright red gums, confusion, or collapse.

If you’re hot, they’re hot. Think ahead and be prepared.
