Stellar Serpents

Stellar Serpents Stellar Serpents produces hundreds of corn snakes each year, with other species in development. I raise more than 90% of my breeders from hatchlings.

Stellar Serpents brings a small breeder approach to large-scale production. The result of more than 25 years of experience with exotic pets in general and reptiles in particular, Stellar Serpents was built to provide reptile enthusiasts with a positive buying experience. It takes longer, but there is no substitute for working with the snakes for years before they ever lay an egg or sire a clutch.

When you buy a hatchling from me, you will know that I hatched it and raised it at my facility. What's more, I personally feed and clean up after every snake, track every piece of husbandry data, design the websites, write and edit everything written on them and even respond individually to each and every email inquiry and question. No employees. No assistants. Just a guy who loves reptiles and wants to share that passion with as many people as possible. Isn't that the way it should be? Thanks for visiting,
Todd Tremblay

While not the clearest photo we took this season, this one always makes me chuckle for some reason. I think I just like the little Blizzard head peeking out as if to say "Hey, wait for me!" to the Fluorescent hatchling cruising past.

It doesn't get much cooler than this for me. Love this morph, love their enthusiasm and love the results. I've wanted to own these since before I started breeding, so producing them is even better! Comment or like them if you're interested in seeing more of this pairing.

It seems like I'm always hearing herpers say they need a good scale to track their snake's development. It came up again yesterday, so I tracked down the link to the scale I use and thought I would post it here on the off chance it would help anyone else. I'm also posting the link to the cheapest place I have ever seen it online. I recommend picking up the A/C adapter as well; rechargeable batteries won't fit in the compartment due to their slightly larger diameter. You can find it at http://www.saveonscales.com/products-page/10thg/my-weigh-7001dx-digital-scale/

I'm finally back to work. I pulled a ton of babies from the incubator last night and corralled some mischievous escapees as well. I think one of our boys caught the last one behind the downstairs bathroom door earlier tonight. Today I cleaned and inventoried all the mice, in addition to harvesting what was probably a record number of them at the same time. Tomorrow is setting up all those babies and resuming the cleaning/feeding routine. I'll have another week or so before I am caught up on that and I have to keep unpacking and moving furniture in from the garage as I go. Hopefully I will be posting more pictures on the site soon.

Well, the move is nearly complete. We've only broken a few things the whole time, but of course one of them was the heating cable for one of the baby racks. Thankfully, I now have the room to improvise and everyone still has heat until a new one arrives. I wanted to warn anyone trying to reach me over Labor Day weekend that internet and phone service will not be hooked up at the new house until Monday afternoon. It might not have been scheduled that soon had it not been for the excellent assist from fellow herper and Time Warner Cable employee Kimberly! Thanks again and I'll be back in 72 hours, right Kimberly? ;)

I know some of you were expecting to visit the Stellar Serpents table at the Portland Reptile Expo on August 26th. I regret to announce that I have had to pull out of that show due to a lack of time. We close on our new home the next morning and immediately start moving. I was hoping to be far enough along in our preparations to still attend, but now that the time for show prep is upon me, that is not the case. After more than six years of searching for a house and suffering countless setbacks and disappointments, this move must take priority, both for the sake of my family and the animals. I hope to catch up with all of you in Manchester next month at the New England Reptile Expo. Have a great show!

This is a discarded inventory photo of a Classic Stripe. It wasn't centered well enough or sufficiently in focus, but I still liked it for the tongue and the beads of water left after the snake had eaten.

As I was looking through the remaining shots, this one made me laugh a bit. Snakes aren't the most expressive animals, but I could swear this Caramel Motley was surprised to see the camera. It really is a pity these guys were already opaque when I set them up.

This was the last of the Caramel Motley clutches of 2011. By that time I was trying to maintain my sanity by setting up full clutches after the last baby emerged. Many of these guys were already opaque at the time of the photo, but I love this shot all the same. They were a pain to hunt down, since they blended with the moss and vermiculite far too well.

I no longer remember what morph this little one was, though I would guess Snow. I liked the image, but could never find the right place to post it. The chin stands alone.

Before I start posting shots of the 2012 breeding season, I have some miscellaneous photos from last season cluttering up my desktop. I'm going to post them at a rate of about one each day until they are all up in a gallery. I'm calling them the "B-sides". This first photo wasn't the brightest, but I couldn't delete that crooked tongue.

It was a great show this time out. Things continue to improve with each new Expo. The prep work in particular has gotten a lot smoother. There is no substitute for experience! Many thanks to all who made this one the best ever and I look forward to seeing you all at our next event!
