Really happy with how Ros is coming along!
Yesterday was his 15th ride and I cooled him out by hitting the trail for the first time.
He’s turning into such a nice baby!

Roswel is coming along so nicely.
Today was his 10th ride.
He's figuring out how to follow his nose, lope out in the arena relaxed on a loose rein, he's already wanting to stop off my seat, and he's backing up with softness.

Here is the first ride on Ros, the 2.5 year old gelding, done on Friday.
He was a bit sticky and sluggish moving out, so I got him into the trot and canter as soon as I could.
He was wanting to pin his ears and be a brat about it initially and it’s important to shut that behavior down immediately before it turns into something more serious.
I don’t ever want them to think that bucking is even an option.
This boy is double Hancock bred btw. 😅

When I have time, I will be putting together a longer video of Ros’s first ride from Friday.
He’s on the lazier side and wants to be a brat when asked to move out.
I felt it was important getting him to canter from the first ride on to make sure he understands that moving out is just part of it.

I'm teaching Naomi to self load and back off the trailer.
By the end of our first session yesterday, she was easily following me onto the trailer, but she became nervous when I wanted her to self load during today's session and wouldn't stay on the trailer.
Every time she chose to back off the trailer on her own, I would put her to work.
Once she figured out that the trailer was her place of rest, she started staying on for longer periods of time.
I will continue to build on this over the next couple of sessions.

I decided to cool Naomi out by riding
her along the road for the first time.
We get quite a bit of traffic, which is
great exposure for them.
So happy with the way she handled it
all!

Ros is a 2.5 year old quarter horse here to be started under saddle. This was from his seventh session last week.
He already had quite a bit of ground work done before coming to me, so he breezed through the exercises and was ready for saddle prep.
He was not bothered by the long line around his girth, but didn't care for it around his flank and threw a small tantrum.
He's sensible like his momma, Janey, and decided it wasn't so bad after a short outburst. 😅
