AWA was founded in 1948 by a small group of community activists who wanted to address and help the issue of unwanted pets in our community. In our adoption program, we have dogs and puppies, cats and kittens, rabbits, guinea pigs and other small animals. We also have a pet clinic that allows us to further our mission to provide affordable, high-quality healthcare to pets in our community. You can

Class is back in session with AWA's Animal Academy! 🐾

This program brings homeschoolers out into new environments to learn, socialize, and strengthen their animal literacy and empathy. Activities will be STEAM-focused and designed to fit into any homeschool curriculum. They include hands-on lessons where students will be given the tools, materials and detailed instruction to learn about unique areas of animal sciences, welfare, conservation and more!

Ages 5-17

September: The Human-Animal Bond
16th from 11:30am-1pm
17th from 1pm-2:30pm

October: Animal Super Senses
14th from 11:30am-1pm
15th from 1pm-2:30pm

November: Invasive Species

12th from 1pm-2:30pm

Fall is on the horizon and what better way to celebrate than with mums flowers! 💐

Each 9-inch pot is covered in blooms and carefully selected from G&G Farm in Swedesboro. For only $10, a portion of the proceeds from each purchase will go to the Animal Welfare Association in support of our shelter animals.

ALL mums will be delivered to the Animal Welfare Association on the afternoon of Saturday, 9/26/2026. Mums will be sorted and orders will be pulled for pick up.

Ladies, grab your sneakers and get ready to build! Join us for Raise the Woof: A Women’s Build, a hands-on afternoon where women can learn new construction skills, get comfortable with power tools, and create something special for shelter pets.

Working together in rotating stations, participants will learn how to safely use a variety of power tools, while helping build two adorable Snoopy-inspired dog houses. No previous building experience is necessary!

The completed dog houses will be part of a prize drawing for October adopters at AWA, giving two lucky adopters the chance to take home a one-of-a-kind dog house for their new best friend.
