🐾❤️ BONDED PAIRS ARE A PACKAGE DEAL. AND THERE'S A REASON FOR THAT.

One of the things we hear far too often in rescue is:

"Can I just adopt one?"

"I really love the gray one, but I don't want two."

"Can't you just separate them?"

The answer isn't always what people want to hear. But when two cats are truly bonded, we will not separate them just to make an adoption happen.

Here's why. Some of these babies have already lost everything they've ever known. Their homes. Their families. Their routines. Their sense of security.

And through all of that change, they've had ONE constant. Each other. ❤️

They sleep together. They groom each other. They look for each other when they're scared. They provide comfort in situations they don't understand.

Separating a truly bonded pair can cause significant stress, anxiety, changes in appetite, and behavioral issues.

And honestly? Haven't they already been through enough?

At The Catty Shack, our responsibility isn't just to find homes. It's to find the RIGHT homes.

We understand that not everyone can adopt two cats. And that's perfectly okay! We have plenty of wonderful cats who would thrive as single companions.

But when we tell you two cats need to stay together, it's not because we're trying to make things difficult.

It's because we've watched their relationship. We've seen how they depend on one another. And we've made a commitment to protect that bond.

❤️ Adoption should be about what's best for the animal, not just what's most convenient for us.

One unspayed female. One unneutered male. That’s all it takes for the cycle to begin.

Cats can reproduce quickly, and kittens can become old enough to reproduce while they’re still kittens themselves. What starts as one litter can turn into generation after generation of cats needing food, shelter, medical care, and homes.

That’s why spay and neuter matters. 💙

For owned cats, getting them fixed prevents accidental litters and provides important health and behavioral benefits.

For community cats, Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is one of the most effective, humane ways to stop the cycle. Cats are humanely trapped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, ear-tipped, and returned to their outdoor homes.

Every surgery matters. Every litter prevented matters. And every person who chooses to spay, neuter, foster, trap, transport, or support TNR is helping create a future with fewer cats struggling outdoors.

You can’t rescue your way out of overpopulation. Prevention has to be part of the solution. 🐾🧡

Bottle Baby Basics Part 7:

🐾 How Often Should Newborn Kittens Be Fed?
Bottle babies require frequent feedings around the clock to grow, thrive, and stay healthy!

🍼 Birth to 1 week: Every 2 hours.
🍼 1 to 2 weeks: Every 2-3 hours.
🍼 2 to 3 weeks: Every 3-4 hours.
🍼 3 to 4 weeks every 4-5 hours.
🍼 4 to 5 weeks every 5-6 hours.
🍼 5 to 6 weeks: starting to wean. Offer ample wet food. Bottle feed every 6 hours.

⏰ Yes, that means overnight feedings, too! Newborn kittens depend entirely on their caregivers for survival.

❤️ These are general guidelines. Feeding schedules may vary depending on a kitten’s weight, health, and individual needs.
