Meet Sarge! One of the sweetest English Bulldogs who just joined the Pawfection family. Sandy was in charge of giving Sarge all the pets, walks, and love. We may be bias, but I'm pretty sure he loved his time with us!

Asked our sitters of Pet Sitting Pawfection to send me their fave photos of the week! Here we go! This is Nala, sent by our sitter Trinie! Nala is a true wigglebutt, loves getting pets, and loves her walks.

This is Mickey, sent by our sitter Jo Ann. Mickey LOVES giving us a warm welcome when we enter the house. She is great at "mowing" the lawn, and appreciates a good game of fetch.

Here we have Roscoe! Sent by our sitter, Sandy. Roscoe just joined our recurring dog walking crew. He likes a nice, short walk, but we think playing fetch is his favorite thing to do.

Mister Truman (front) and Mister Hamilton (back) sent by Amy! Can you figure out the significance of their names? These two are many years apart, but you wouldn't be able to tell. They love running around outside, playing fetch in the house, and enjoy a leisurely walk through the neighborhood. Hamilton will take pets all day!

And finally, Sir Duke! Sent by our sitter, Tera. Duke has the cutest prance throughout the house, enjoys a good game of tug, is really good with his commands, and is such a joy to take on a walk around the neighborhood.

This is a very small handful of all the wonderful clients we serve. Our sitters are amazing and we cherish each one of them. Pet Sitting Pawfection is made up of a team of sitters who truly care about your pets as if they were their own.

🎶 Rain, Rain, GO AWAY! You're messing up doggy playtime today! 🎶 FURREAL!

Rain 🌧️ is just another part of weather we work around. At minimum, we get your pup outside to potty. If the rain is light enough, we get out for our scheduled walk.

On days where it's just not a good day for a walk, we will do indoor playtime, go through enrichment activities (games that provide mental stimulation), go through commands, and of course, give lots of love and pets.

Why would we reschedule? You don't reschedule your work day because it's raining. Neither do we! Those pups still need us no matter the weather.

Now are there occasions where we may not be able to make it to your pet? Sure. Hurricanes, flooding, other extreme weather, etc. It happens. Chances are, you'd be home on those days anyway. But that's a whole different protocol. We are talking a friendly day of rain on this post.

Heat stroke can happen much faster than many pet owners realize.

One of the important parts of being a professional pet sitter is knowing when not to take a dog on their normal walk. We are aware of everything!

Every decision we make is based on one question:

“What’s safest for this pet today?”

Sometimes that means a full walk.

Sometimes it means a shorter potty break, indoor enrichment, fresh water, and extra cuddles.

Your dog’s safety should always come before sticking to a routine.

Save this post so you have it the next time temperatures climb, and share it with another pet owner who loves their dog as much as you do.

Yes, your dog needs fresh water.

But they also need:

🌳 Shade
😮‍💨 Rest breaks
🦮 Less exercise
☀️ Time indoors during extreme heat

Hydration is only one part of keeping them safe.

Dogs rely mostly on panting to regulate their body temperature.

High humidity makes that much harder, which means a dog can overheat even when the temperature doesn’t seem extreme.

If the pavement is too hot for your hand,
it’s too hot for your dog’s paws.

Choose:
✔ Grass
✔ Shaded trails
✔ Early morning walks
✔ Evening walks

Pay extra attention if your dog is:

🐶 Flat-faced (Bulldogs, Pugs, Boston Terriers)
🐶 Senior
🐶 A puppy
🐶 Overweight
🐶 Extra fluffy
🐶 Has heart or breathing problems

These pets overheat much faster than healthy adult dogs.

Don’t ignore:

• Excessive panting
• Thick drool
• Weakness
• Vomiting
• Collapse
• Bright red gums

Heat stroke is a medical emergency.

Call your veterinarian immediately if you notice these symptoms.

❌ Not for one minute.

❌ Not with the windows cracked.

❌ Not while you “run in real quick.”

The temperature inside a vehicle rises dangerously fast.

Missing one walk is always better than risking heat stroke.

On extremely hot days, a shorter potty break followed by indoor enrichment is often the safer choice.

Your dog won’t remember missing one long walk.

They will benefit from staying safe.
