📣 FOSTER NEEDED 📣

Meet JoJo! 🐾 This super cute 8-month-old, 35-pound pup was seen roaming alone in Chester, SC, and thankfully, a kind-hearted Good Samaritan stepped in and helped her find rescue.

JoJo is now safe in foster care, and we've quickly learned that she is full of life, love, and puppy energy! She's very dog-friendly, loves to play, and has become best friends with her foster brother, Gavin. She would fit best in an active home with a playful canine companion. She is not a couch potato dog.

While she's still learning her manners, JoJo is doing great with potty training, is crate trained, and is a champion cuddler when she settles down. She's confident, curious, and discovering that the world is much bigger than she ever knew.

What we love most about JoJo is her zest for life. After an uncertain start, she finally has the chance to just be a puppy, and she's making the most of it.

We hope to bring JoJo to Northern Virginia on 6/20, but we need a foster or foster-to-adopt home to make that happen.

🎉 ADOPTION SUCCESS – SWEET PEA aka GRACIE 🐾

Sweet Pea was left behind along with her newborn puppies when her owner moved away and abandoned her, leaving her in the care of roommates who had never agreed to take on the responsibility. When volunteers went to meet her, Sweet Pea and her puppies were living in a cold, drafty space in a small crate with not enough room to move. 😪 The difficult conditions impacted her milk production, and tragically, some of her puppies did not survive.

Despite everything she endured, Sweet Pea remained a loving and devoted mom. She did her very best for her babies, and her puppies have gone on to find their forever homes. Now, it was finally her turn.

Sweet Pea, now Gracie, has found an incredible home in Bethesda with two-time WDR adopters Amanda and Richard, their son Sebastian, and WDR alum Ginger, who quickly became her new best friend. Gracie now has a beautiful fenced yard to romp and explore, a work-from-home mom, a playful pup companion, and a family who absolutely adores her.

Gracie is embracing her new life. She’s wonderful with 9-year-old Sebastian, and most nights you’ll find Gracie and Ginger snuggled up beside him in bed. She integrated seamlessly into her new pack and is already enjoying daily walks to the bus stop to see Sebastian off to school, in-home playdates, and trips to the pet store to pick out her favorite toys. She has also taken her new role as neighborhood squirrel watcher and hunter very seriously. We think she knows she hit the jackpot and is doing her part to contribute. 🐿️😂

“Gracie has adjusted incredibly well to her new home. She has been with us for almost a week and already feels like a natural member of the family. Our WDRE foster fail, Ginger, immediately accepted her as a partner in crime for walks, treats, and snuggles. Gracie has already destroyed several toys and thinks Walkies are for hunting small woodland creatures, so we have some work to do. But she is perfect, and we love her so much already. We cannot imagine life without her.”

ADOPTON SUCCESS! 🐾💕

Muffin was adopted from a shelter as a young puppy, around 6–7 months old. After her owner had a baby and struggled to care for her, Muffin came into the care of Angelique, who fostered her for nearly six months. Although Muffin later returned to her owner, Angelique remained a constant in her life through regular visits and sleepovers. When her owner made the decision to rehome her, Angelique once again stepped in to give Muffin a soft place to land while we searched for her forever home.

When Gina and John applied for Muffin, we quickly felt they were a wonderful fit for this little cutie. They have a flexible schedule, an adult son at home to help with care, a large fenced yard for romping and exploring, and another young, playful Yorkie in the home. Yorkies are their preferred breed, and they were specifically looking for a young, confident pup to pair with their pup. Muffin is all that and then some, a sassy little girl who brings fun wherever she goes.

Gina reports that Muffin has settled in well and already feels like the perfect addition to their family. We are incredibly thankful for advocates like Angelique, who stepped up to help a dog facing the loss of her home and made sure Muffin had the chance at the happy ending she deserved.

Meet Buster… Awesome Dog Alert!

Buster is as sweet and social as they come. He’s been thriving in his local foster home for the past few months, living with his foster parents and two young playful pups, and he fit right in from day one.

This handsome guy is a natural with other dogs, loves to play, shares toys nicely, and is a huge fan of tug-of-war. He’s also house-trained, crate-trained, and has excellent leash skills… honestly, kind of the total package. 😍

We checked in with his foster dad, Travis, for an update:

“Buster is very adaptable. He enjoys other dogs but is also very connected to his person. He doesn’t want conflict and has a very happy-go-lucky attitude. He’s easygoing and did great adjusting to life with our bigger dog, Penny. He was a little nervous the first day, but by day two, they were cuddling together. He’s young, playful, and energetic, so he’ll do best in an active home with a dog who likes to play. He listens well, wants to please, and walks nicely on leash without pulling.”

Buster is truly a gem of a dog - affectionate, easygoing, playful, and ready to find his forever family.

Meet Edna Jean (EJ) 🐾

This adorable 8–9-month-old Shih Tzu may have already had multiple homes in her short life, but you’d never know it from her sweet, happy personality. Everyone who meets EJ absolutely adores her.

EJ is super dog-friendly and currently lives with multiple dogs in foster care, including seniors and a playful younger pup. She LOVES toys, enjoys playing fetch (sort of 😂), and can happily wrestle and play for hours with her dog buddies.

She’s affectionate, social, smart, crate trained, doing great with potty training, and loves snuggling in bed with her humans at night. Her foster mom describes her as “a gem of a pup” with the cutest personality.

Like most adolescents, EJ is active and playful, and one thing to know is that this girl can JUMP.

She’s truly a loving, fun little dog who is going to make an amazing companion. Apply today!
