True friends are few and far between. This was one of my only true friends that I could always count on in good times and bad. Nick and I shared a love of snakes that had taken us both to our careers in the reptile world. Nick was the blood Python guru and was at the top of his game. We both were heavily involved in fighting legislation here in the state of South Carolina. Nick founded Cold-Blooded Earth and took the Blood Python game to its highest level. This photo was taken at my facility when we were still setting up exhibits and the Lab. Nick also had venomous experience as he was a reptile curator at a major aza zoo early on in his career. If you were friends with Nick you were blessed, and if you never got the chance to know him you were cheated. I miss him and our weekly conversations about life in this industry. RIP my Brother

The endangered Mangshan Viper from a very small mountain range in the Hunan province in China. (Protobothrops mangshanensis) They are a large pit viper that is not only terrestrial but also arboreal! Reaching up to 8 foot with a very strong prehensile tail giving them great climbing abilities. One of the few pit vipers that actually lays eggs. Not much is known about the venom of this rare species but it is under study. There is no current antivenin available at this time but there are alternatives that have been applied. We are fortunate enough to have a breeding program for this magnificent snake here at Venomcentrals Serpent Center.

My male CBB (BCC Surinam) Boa Constrictor. There's a lot of crazy morphs out there now but in my opinion nothing beats a true Red Tail.

Check out the rattle on this big boy! This is a 6 foot male Yucatan rattlesnake ( Crotalus Tzabcan) at 18 years old now he has lost his rattle several times but has managed to keep this intact for a few years.

Check out the double fang action during this morning's venom extraction. This is a Yucatan rattlesnake (Crotalus Tzabcan). This is fairly common to see during Venom extractions. It's just a new fang moving into place to replace the old one.
