So I found out about 2 weeks ago that Drogon had a URI. I noticed that his eyes looked kinda goopy and his saliva was thicker than it should be, so, in he went again... 4th time this month. Word to the wise: always watch for these little things, because it could end up saving your reptile's life!!
THIS time, he ended up on a round of ABX by injection, an oral anti inflammatory, and had his eyes flushed. I increased his heat (he's in an 8-foot enclosure so heating one end and creating a proper ambient temp can be a challenge but we finally got it right) gave him a 2nd basking area, and we are on our way to better days!!! His eyes are clear, his breathing is PERFECT, and after all these hiccups and dropping down to 538g when he had the parasite, his weight is up to 599g today. He is NOT overweight. He's a huge beardie, and even his h**p says he needs a little extra grams for his frame.
Drogon is now shedding properly (that was lacking as well, especially in his nostrils), he's eating everything put in front of him, he's sleeping during his normal hours and not all day, and he's the most beautiful boy in all the land!!!
Sometimes, and it stinks to say, you don't realize you may have created the problem. I just didn't have the temps quite right and unfortunately, my boy suffered for a brief time. But FORTUNATELY, with the help of a REALLY good medical team (yes, he has a team - nothing is too good for my boy), and a couple thou later (ugh 😵💫), he's almost back to perfect health and it finally shows!
