Ivy has been a tougher dog for me to train, but we are getting to the point where she is doing better and understanding what I’m asking her.

Harper still gets excited sometimes and wants to chase the stock instead of working the stock. But we are trusting the process and she’s come a long ways since we first got her, excited to watch her grow and learn to control herself more.

Kindle’s first work with us on stock went better than I thought she’s already putting me in her head and allowing me to show her what I want. Pretty excited for this young dog to see where she goes.

Working the girls (Flo, Harper) the same time on the barrel with stock around and seeing that they are still allowing me into their mind and following my commands for each dog.

Flo’s first time in the big pen on the heifers, she figured it out fairly quick what I was asking, she’s a very strong eyed dog but she’s smart enough to figure out what I’m asking.

Working on Ivy’s walk up as well as her stand and fine-tuning her directions, she keeps wanting to sit there and balance the sheep but we are trusting the process, and the owner is happy with how she’s coming along and is excited to get her home and be able to use her on the ranch.

Pressure and Release goes a long way with these working dogs, it’s like training horses as soon as they do what you’re asking with that pressure, you release that pressure so they then find that release. Ivy is so sensitive to pressure and as a result it takes very little for her react to it, but also her drive to work the stock is so intense and that leads into her wanting to balance the stock. She knows she’s supposed to focus and work the stock, she will sometimes focus 100% on the stock which is fine until I ask her to do something and she ignores me which we can’t have, cause I need to be able to be in her mindset and help her understand what she’s supposed to do with the stock and be able to set her up for success so that when she goes home to her owner, she’ll be able to accomplish whatever job he puts before her.

Harper helping Kindle figuring out that she needs to stay on the barrel while I’m working other dogs and Chenai is helping out as well.

Harper is a high drive dog and has a ton of adrenaline so she runs off that, but we are working on her to slow down and think for herself more, making her clean up some messes that she makes.

Started working with Kindle on some sanction with the other day, she’s a super timid dog when she’s not in her kennel or on stock, but we are slowly working our way over that, can’t wait to see what she turns into. Trust the process

Harper is starting to get the short flanks figured out for the most part, still got some fine tuning to do but she’s progressing very well.
