🐾 SPIKE IS SAFE! 🎉

Lost for 8 days, this smart boy figured out how to navigate to his brand-new home… he just wasn’t quite ready to give up on his unapproved & unsupervised adventure. 😂

We can’t thank his owners enough for reaching out to us within 1 day of Spike going missing and following our guidance every step of the way. ❤️

Red Collar Rescue & Recovery set up a feeding station monitored by our Spartan Go Live camera and deployed a humane trap once he showed his face on camera.

🌙 Night 1: Spike ghosted us.
🌙 Night 2: He showed up again, but wasn’t ready to commit
🌙 Night 3: GOTCHA! Success! 🎉🐶

Spike is now resting easy with his family, and his case is officially CLOSED! ❤️

Apparently, Spike just needed three business days to review our proposal. 😉🐾

Sometimes rescuing a scared dog doesn’t require a trap. It requires patience, understanding, and knowing when to simply slow down.

Recently, one of our Lost Dog Consultants, Michelle, received a call from a woman outside Pima County who had discovered a frightened, abandoned dog near her home.

He wouldn’t come close. He wouldn’t take a biscuit. And every time someone approached, he ran.

Our Lost Dog Consultant , Michelle, coached her through our Shy Dog Protocol—encouraging her to sit quietly, give him space, use irresistible food, avoid chasing, and let him decide when he was ready to trust.

So she sat.

And waited.

For hours.

Little by little, he came closer. He began eating the food she tossed to him. Eventually, he was sitting just a few feet away. Then, after hours of patience, he ate from her hand and allowed her to touch him.

After more than six hours together, she was finally able to put a leash on him.

She got him.
And the sweetest part?
She’s going to adopt him. ❤️🐾

This is why education matters.
Sometimes the most important thing we can do for a frightened dog is teach someone how to understand what the dog is telling us—and give that dog the time and space to make the choice to come home.

We’re incredibly proud of our Lost Dog Consultant for helping make this rescue possible, even from miles away.

One phone call. One patient person. One dog who now has a second chance.

That’s what community looks like. ❤️
