UPDATE!! This one is now SAFE and home with his family where he belongs! We are OVER THE MOON happy for this pet ownerr who spent hours upon hours hanging hundreds of flyers, walking on foot and talking to anyone he could. Rescue story to come, but for now, this pup can rest easy!!

🐾 🚨We need your help!!

She is still out in the desert alone.. we need YOU!

BEFORE WE CAN TRAP HER. we need a foster to raise their hand and say, YES, I will give her a temporary home. We have partnered with PACC (Pima Animal Care Center) and we will walk you through the process to become a foster. PACC will provide medical care and they will provide food/supplies as they are available. We can provide more information if you are a serious interest foster.

We are still looking for a foster for this sweet abandoned girl!

Gracie was only found because she stepped into our line of sight while we were searching for another lost dog. She’s been living in a desert wash, alone. Since finding her, we’ve continued to provide food and water… but that’s all we can do until someone steps up for her.

WITHOUT A committed foster, our hands — and Gracie’s fate — are tied.

🐾 🚨FOSTER NEEDED🚨🐾: Gracie is waiting for someone to choose her and spends another night alone in the desert.

Some dogs cross our path because they’re meant to be seen.

Gracie is one of them.

She’s significantly underweight, surviving alone in a wash in Tucson, Arizona, and only found because she stepped into our line of sight at the exact moment we were meant to notice her. Since then, we’ve kept her in one safe area with food and water… but that’s all we can do until someone steps up for her.

We want to be transparent:
We believe she is a Black Mouth Cur/Shepherd Mix - she is beautiful. We know very little about her demeanor right now. What we do know is that she’s shy — and she will need a foster who understands dog behavior, who can offer consistency, patience, and a calm environment. Someone who won’t give up on her when she’s unsure, overwhelmed, or slow to trust. Supplies, food, and medical care will be provided.

Dogs like Gracie don’t need perfection. They need commitment.

💙Here’s the part most people never hear💙

To save an at‑risk stray, we MUST have a safe place for that dog to land BEFORE we can humanely trap and rescue.

We’re ready. We’re watching over her.

But without a committed foster, our hands — and Gracie’s fate — are tied.

Once a foster or rescue is in place, the magic can happen.

Gracie can finally leave the wash.
She can finally exhale.
She can finally begin to heal.

Think of this as the volunteer role for people who love dogs, love humans, and don’t panic when someone else is panicking. Our Lost Dog Consultants are the heart of Red Collar and without them, we can't operate — the calm voices, the steady guides, the “okay, here’s what we’re going to do” heroes behind rescue after rescue.

And guess what…
We’re growing the team.

💛 You Don’t Need to Live in Arizona - this is a completely REMOTE VOLUNTEER ROLE!
You can help from your couch, your kitchen table, or your favorite coffee shop. If you’ve got Wi‑Fi and heart, you’re halfway there.

🗣️ What Makes a Great Consultant?
We’re looking for people who can:
- Talk to stressed owners with kindness and clarity (bonus points if you’ve ever been the “family phone call person”)
- Listen actively — really hear what’s being said, and what’s not
- Problem‑solve on the fly — “Okay, let’s look at the map… here’s our next move”
- Use basic tech comfortably — Google Maps, email, texting, Facebook Messenger
- Show up consistently — we need folks who can raise their hand to help frequently.

📚 Experience Not Required — Heart Required
We’ll train you on everything: lost dog behavior, recovery strategy, communication tips, the whole playbook.
If you bring compassion, steadiness, and a willingness to learn, we’ll turn you into a lost‑dog‑saving machine.

Red Collar started because of him.. — our goofy, determined, big‑hearted Mission Launcher who reminds us why we show up for at‑risk and owner‑lost dogs.

Now he’s calling in reinforcements.

💛 We’re building a small team of Scout Volunteers — neighbors who can take a quick look at areas where a dog was recently seen and share simple observations that help us make safe, smart rescue decisions.

No experience needed.
No approaching the dog.
Just awareness, heart, and a few minutes when you’re already out walking, hiking, or driving.

❤️ ANNOUNCEMENT: Red Collar Rescue & Recovery is now expanding our services to include at‑risk abandoned dogs.

Since inception, our focus has been helping families bring their missing dogs home — and that work will always continue.

But the reality is this:

Some dogs aren’t just “strays.”
Some are starving.
Some are injured.
Some are pregnant or nursing.
Some are out there tonight, with no chance of surviving without help.

These are the dogs who have no one searching for them.
These are the dogs who cannot wait.
And now — we are ready to step in for them too.

BUT here’s the part most people don’t realize:

We’re a humane trapping team.
We don’t have internal fosters.
To save an at‑risk abandoned dog, we MUST have a safe place for that dog to land lined up FIRST before we take any action.

This expansion means we can help more dogs than ever before —
but it also means we NEED our community more than ever.
