As a thirty year resident of Upland, I have witnessed a transformation take place in our great city, involving scandals, unfulfilled promises of a flourishing budget and thriving downtown, decaying infrastructure, loss and outsourcing of vital services, and mismanagement of budgets. In years past, I have voted for leadership that promised to turn our city around, only to see another term of lacklu
ster results and the inability to follow through on recommendations. The citizens of our beautiful city must have security and peace of mind knowing that when an unplanned event occurs such as a natural disaster, reduction of property values and sales tax revenue, we as your council and stewards to our community can, with confidence, assure each and every one of you that we will get through it with the resources and financial means. Long term planning, not just fiscal year to fiscal year budgets, is vital to accomplishing the dreams and vision of what Upland needs to be in five years and beyond. As your councilmember, you can trust that I will make the right decisions in critical times, and work with my fellow peers and city leaders to create a strategy to make our town thrive. I am humble enough to cast aside personal differences and work for a common cause, and at the same time I am not hesitant to address tough issues. I will never make a promise for change without a plan to back it up, and if I do not have full knowledge on a particular agenda, I am not shy to dig into the issue until I understand all of the ramifications of the outcome. I plan to work smarter and harder to cultivate a flourishing, cohesive community, and instill a sense of pride that has been lacking in Upland for so many years. Our historic ‘City of Gracious Living’ can once again be the envy of the Inland Empire and beyond. You will not see me soliciting donations or endorsements, the greatest endorsement I can ever receive is your vote of confidence on November 4. Believe that I am the right person, with the right ideas, at the right time, and trust that I will make the proper decisions and fight to make the city of Upland prosper again. I promise to make you proud that you voted for me to represent our city and every good citizen who calls Upland home. Immediate Action Plan:
Address the animal shelter deficit through partnerships or regionalization
Encourage new business through tax incentives
Invest in infrastructure through asset reallocation and implementation
Improve pension obligations through legislative change at the state level
Implement employee retention policies and recruitment
Increase revenue through approved measures collection
Identify and plan for commercial and residential development of unused land
Partner with individuals and investors who are serious about our historic downtown
Limit outsourcing through better efficiency of each city department
Examine the impact of public services due to growth of city
