🐾❤️ Tai Chi & Little Man Are Having Some Fun! ❤️🐾

Tai Chi and Little Man were having some fun yesterday, and I absolutely loved watching them together. 🥰

Tai Chi can sometimes take a little time to warm up to other dogs, but with Little Man, he immediately clicked. Maybe he can sense that Little Man is missing his family. 💔 Or maybe they just understand each other in a way that we don’t.

Whatever the reason, I love watching these two play. And something really stood out to me—Tai Chi is much gentler with Little Man than he is with some of the other dogs. It’s absolutely adorable. ❤️

Now, about our boy Tai Chi…

He has had quite a few inquiries, but so far, no one has taken that final step to adopt him.

And I honestly think I know why.

When people come to meet Tai Chi, he is often completely unimpressed by them. 😂 He’s aloof. He isn’t interested in making friends with the humans who have come to meet him. He’s much more interested in the smells around him and whatever else is happening in his environment.

And I understand how that can be disappointing when you’re hoping a dog will run up to you, give you kisses and immediately fall in love.

But that’s just not Tai Chi.

He’s a dog who needs you to give him time.

He isn’t going to audition for you in the first five minutes. He isn’t going to desperately seek your attention. He may barely acknowledge you.

But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a huge personality or a whole lot of love to give.

Sometimes the dogs who don’t immediately choose you are the ones who become the most special once they finally do. ❤️

Tai Chi just needs someone who is willing to look beyond that first impression and give him the opportunity to show you who he really is.

And watching him with Little Man yesterday was just another reminder that there is so much more to this boy than what you see when you first meet him. 🐾❤️

Tai Chi is still waiting for his forever family.

Maybe his person is out there… they just need to be patient enough to let Tai Chi discover them. ❤️ found him. Sniffing the grass and the trees. But the truth is it’s once he’s inside. All he wants to do is be with his person. I wish people could see this about him. I don’t know why people think that there should always be some sort of instant connection. The connection will come. They don’t understand that tai chi has been in four different homes. Who could blame him for being aloof. I know this, his next home will have to be his permanent home the last two people that came asked basically if they could test drive him after hearing that he had been in four homes. What did they not understand? Apparently they did not understand the assignment.

🐾❤️ PLEASE WELCOME LITTLE MAN TO GUNTER’S LEGACY! ❤️🐾

When a fellow rescuer reaches out and asks you to help a senior dog, it’s really hard to say no—especially when that rescuer has helped you in the past and has never said no when you needed her. So, of course, we said YES! ❤️

Please welcome Little Man to Gunter’s Legacy Animal Rescue! 🐾

Little Man is 12 years old and was adopted by his previous family when he was just two. Unfortunately, his dad will be out of the country for several months. He travels frequently and has had to leave for extended periods in the past, but now that Little Man is getting older, those long absences have become much harder for him.

He is understandably a little stressed and confused right now, so we’re going to give him some time to decompress, settle in, and figure out what’s happening. ❤️

But from what we’ve seen so far, Little Man is a very sweet boy.

🐶 12 years old
🐾 Approximately 20 lbs
🐾 Terrier mix
🐾 Neutered
🐾 Fully vaccinated
🐾 Microchipped
🐾 Leash trained
🐾 Gets along with other dogs
🐾 Loves sleeping on the bed with his person

He did chase the cat in the front yard, so a home without cats may be best.

Little Man has spent his entire life knowing what it means to have a family. At 12 years old, he deserves to spend his golden years feeling safe, loved, and secure. ❤️

We are looking for either a foster home or an adopter who will give this sweet senior boy the patience, love, and stability he needs.

If you’re interested in meeting Little Man and possibly fostering or adopting him, please send us a message or email us at:

📧 [email protected]

And please, SHARE Little Man! 🙏❤️
You never know who might be the perfect person to give this wonderful senior his happily-ever-after. 🐾🏡❤️

Welcome to Gunter’s Legacy, Little Man. We’re so happy you’re here. ❤️

❤️🐾 FINLEY & WILSON — FROM TERRIFIED TO THRIVING! 🐾❤️

When Finley and Wilson’s adopter contacted us and asked to return them, we honestly weren’t sure what we were getting back, it had been 5 years.

Our adoption contract specifically requires adopters to take their GLAR dogs to their annual veterinary examinations and keep them current on all required vaccinations. Unfortunately, we learned that Finley and Wilson had not been to a veterinarian in five years, and neither girl was up to date on her vaccinations.

They were also significantly overweight, their mouths smelled strongly of garbage, and worst of all… they were terrified.

When they first came back to us, both girls hid in our quiet room for weeks. They were so frightened that simply venturing out of that room was a huge accomplishment.

But look at them now. ❤️

Today, Finley and Wilson run to the back door and the front door, begging to go outside. They LOVE being outside and they absolutely love playing chase together. They are very bonded girls, and Wilson especially becomes upset when she cannot see Finley.

Finley loves spending time outside, while Wilson prefers being inside. When Finley stays outside and Wilson is inside, Wilson will lie at the door, whimpering until Finley comes back in. 🥹

Both girls were very overweight when they returned, so we immediately put them on a special diet. They are now slimming down beautifully and feeling so much better.

And there’s so much more to love about them:

🐾 Both are housebroken
🐾 Both are quiet and not barkers
🐾 Both love going for walks
🐾 Both love to play
🐾 Both are incredibly sweet and loving
🐾 They LOVE being picked up and hugged
🐾 They are gentle with the other dogs in the home
🐾 They are very bonded to one another

Wilson will even play chase with a cat. She may chase, but she would never hurt it. ❤️

We have not yet been able to get them to the veterinarian because they were initially so terrified of getting back into a car. But we are working through that fear, and both girls are now going to the vet. We are taking them one at a time. We know this will be difficult for Wilson because she doesn’t like being separated from Finley, but it is necessary.

Unfortunately, their former owner did not provide us with much information about why they were being returned. We were not given a bio or any information about what had happened with them over the past five years or how they had changed during that time.

So we are getting to know Finley and Wilson all over again.

And what we are discovering is pretty amazing.

These two girls came back to us frightened, overweight and neglected medically. They spent weeks hiding.

Today, they are running, playing, going for walks, asking to go outside, enjoying each other’s company and learning that they are safe. ❤️

They just need someone to continue giving them the patience, love and stability they deserve.

Finley and Wilson are looking for a foster home or, ideally, their forever home together. Because of their incredibly strong bond, we would love to see them remain together.

Please share their story. These sweet girls have already come so incredibly far. Now they just need someone to help them take the next step. 🐾❤️

From hiding in fear to running to the door to play — THIS is why rescue matters. ❤️

🎓🐾 GRADUATION DAY FOR LILI! 🐾🎓

Today, we get to celebrate something very special! ❤️

We are officially graduating Alice, Kyle & Tula from foster family to FOREVER FAMILY because they have adopted our sweet, spirited little Lili! 🥰🐶

Lili is one of those little dogs who has a BIG personality. She is full of spirit, charm, and personality—and somehow, she has a way of working her way right into your heart. ❤️

Alice, Kyle & Tula opened their home to Lili and fostered her while she waited to become fully vaccinated. Well… once Lili was officially ready, there was really no question about what needed to happen next. They fell in love, and Lili became theirs forever! 🏡❤️

We couldn’t be happier to welcome Alice, Kyle, Tula AND Lili to the Gunter’s Legacy Animal Rescue adopter family! 🎉

We wish this beautiful family a long, happy, healthy life filled with love, laughter, cuddles, and plenty of Lili’s spirited little antics! 🐾❤️

We know without a doubt that Lili has found her perfect forever family. 🥹❤️

Congratulations to everyone!
Happy Tails, Lili! 🐾🎓❤️

🐾 PINKY UPDATE! 🐾

Look at this little girl! ❤️ Pinky looks AND smells so much better after her grooming. I truly think she must feel so much better, too, because the difference is incredible! 🥰

We also went ahead and scheduled her next appointment for two months from now with the same veterinarian. All Pets Medical & Surgical Center was absolutely fantastic, and we would highly recommend them! ❤️

Her total veterinary bill came to approximately $375. Unfortunately, I discovered that Devore Animal Shelter had not given Pinky her rabies vaccination. She also wasn’t microchipped when she was spayed, so we took care of that as well. While she was there, she also received a heartworm test and deworming.

So, thankfully, this little girl is now all caught up! 🐶❤️

A HUGE thank you to everyone who donated toward Pinky’s grooming. We have received $120 so far! 🙏❤️

If anyone would like to help us cover the remaining veterinary bill, we would truly appreciate it. Every donation helps us continue taking care of these little ones. ❤️

💙🐾 ROCKY ROCKET UPDATE! 🚀🐾💙

Rocky Rocket is home after his neuter surgery today, but he is NOT a happy boy. 😢 He’s not feeling well and doesn’t want to eat, which is making it a little difficult to get his pain medication into him.

Thankfully, Rocky is home with his fantastic foster, Shannon, who is keeping a very close eye on him. We know she is worried about him—and so are all of us. It’s never easy watching one of our babies feel sick or uncomfortable, and we know it’s especially upsetting for Shannon because she’s right there with him seeing what he’s going through. ❤️

The good news is that Rocky did great through his surgery, and now we just need to get him through recovery. Please send this little guy all your positive thoughts, prayers, and healing vibes for a fast and uneventful recovery. 🙏🐶💙

💰 ROCKY’S VET BILL UPDATE

His pre-op and surgery today came to just over $600. So far, we have raised approximately $120, leaving us with a significant balance still to cover.

We also want to give a HUGE thank-you to the wonderful doctors and staff at Pawsh Place Veterinary Center & Boutique. They are always extremely professional, kind, and polite—whether I’m calling them or they are calling me. We truly appreciate the care they give our dogs. ❤️

If you can help us with Rocky’s veterinary expenses, any donation, no matter how small, makes a difference. 🙏

And from all of us at Gunter’s Legacy Animal Rescue, THANK YOU to everyone who has sent Rocky good thoughts, prayers, encouragement, and donations. ❤️

We truly could not do this without you. 🐾

Now let’s get those positive vibes going for our Rocky Rocket! 🚀💙🐶
Feel better soon, little man! ❤️🙏

🐾💙 ZUKO UPDATE! 💙🐾

We have an update on our sweet Zuko, and first, we want to send a HUGE thank-you to the amazing staff and doctors at Gold Country Veterinary Hospital in Auburn. ❤️ We are incredibly grateful for the care they provide to our dogs and for the kindness they show us every time we are there.

Zuko went in today for his neuter surgery. While he was under anesthesia, the surgical team checked his teeth—and unfortunately, they discovered a LOT of fistulas and rotten teeth. 😢

The surgeon called us and recommended that we go ahead and do the dental while Zuko was already under anesthesia. We agreed because the last thing we wanted was to make this poor little guy go through anesthesia and another surgery all over again in four months.

So, Zuko had his dental today, too. 💔

He lost all of his bottom incisors and quite a few teeth on the top. Needless to say, he is NOT a happy boy right now—and honestly, we don’t blame him. 😢

He was sent home with pain medication, and his fantastic fosters, Ray and Kim, are keeping a very close eye on him and making sure he is comfortable. ❤️🐾

💰 THE BILL

We were expecting a $175 neuter.

Instead, because of the unexpected dental and extensive extractions, today’s bill came to $1,346.36.

And here’s something we are extremely grateful for: Gold Country Veterinary Hospital gives Gunter’s Legacy a 30% rescue discount, so that $1,346.36 is already AFTER their generous discount. ❤️

We have received just $20 in donations toward Zuko’s surgery so far.

Today has been a VERY busy day—and unfortunately, a VERY expensive one. Between unexpected medical needs and our ongoing veterinary expenses, these surprise bills can be incredibly difficult for a small rescue like ours.

If you are able to help Zuko today, any amount makes a difference. Our donations are tax-deductible, and every dollar goes directly toward helping dogs like Zuko receive the medical care they desperately need. 🐶❤️

Please also keep our little Zuko in your thoughts as he recovers. He has had a rough day, but hopefully he will soon realize that his painful, rotten teeth are gone and he can start feeling so much better. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who continues to support Gunter’s Legacy Animal Rescue. We truly could not do this without you. 🐾💙🙏

One More Big Event Tomorrow: Pinky 💗🐾

We have one more big event happening tomorrow, and this one is for our sweet little Pinky. 🥺❤️

Pinky is the little Poodle we rescued from Devore Animal Shelter back in May. From the moment she came into our care, it was obvious that this little girl had been through something that left her absolutely terrified.

Pinky is not a biter, but her anxiety is so severe that she has to be carefully corralled anytime we need to take her somewhere—whether it’s the veterinarian or the groomer.

Her anxiety has gotten to the point where we cannot safely groom her without anesthesia.

Her little heart races so fast that it honestly feels like it is going to jump right out of her chest. 💔

I don’t know what this little dog experienced before she came to us, but she is absolutely terrified of almost everything.

Thankfully, Pinky has found one thing that makes her feel safe:

Stella. ❤️

Stella is another Poodle in our rescue and an older girl, but she and Pinky have formed an incredibly special bond.

They play together.
They eat together.
They sleep together.

And if Pinky can’t see Stella, she starts pacing in circles until she finds her again.

Stella seems to be Pinky’s security blanket—the one thing that can calm her when the world becomes too overwhelming. 🥺❤️

Tomorrow, Pinky will be going to All Pets Medical in Phillips Ranch, where there is a groomer on site who can work with her safely and have veterinary support available because she needs anesthesia for her grooming.

Unfortunately, this is going to be expensive.

I know I’ve asked for a lot of donations tonight, and I truly hate having to ask so often. But when you have multiple dogs needing medical care at the same time, the bills add up very quickly.

If you can find a way to help us with Pinky’s care, we would be incredibly grateful. Even a small donation makes a difference. ❤️

All donations to Gunter’s Legacy Animal Rescue are tax-deductible.

Thank you for continuing to stand behind these dogs.

Pinky may be terrified of the world right now, but she is finally learning what it feels like to be safe, loved, and cared for. And we will continue to give her the time and patience she needs. ❤️🐾

Please keep our little Pinky in your thoughts tomorrow. 🙏💗
