There’s just something about a mare that I love. They all have a different personality and perspective on life.

I’d take 10 more just like these 4 mares. Quirks and all.

Pebbles- the barn greeter is our over thinker with lots of drive and a huge work ethic. She is sweet to her humans but boss lady in the field or show pen. She is small but mighty and quick.

Popcorn - or grumpy grandma has the cutest grumpy face I’ve ever seen. Most of the time it’s just show. I trust her with my life and the lives of many beginners. She is Alpha mare and a huge part of my soul.

Smooch- the attention w***e. You can’t walk past her stall without a hello (you can hear what happens when you do). She’s the sweetest but when it’s time to work she is all business.

Clover- the perfect girl. What more can I say. She is a blast to ride. From the tiniest tot to a competitive nonpro, clover has them all covered.

Absolutely.

Let people ride your horse.

If we’ve done our job correctly, most horses should be able to be ridden by a lot of different people.

I have people get nervous about getting on my bridle horse because they’re worried they’re going to “wreck her.”

Nobody is going to wreck my bridle horse in 20 minutes.

That doesn’t mean I believe in giving your horse to every idiot who walks through the gate.

It means that in a controlled environment, sometimes you need to let people get on and learn.

Let them make a mistake.

Let them feel what a good horse feels like.

Let them experience something they’ve never experienced before.

Because somebody did that for you.

At some point, you were the person who didn’t know what you were doing.

Somebody had to put you on a horse and give you the opportunity to get better.

We all started out as somebody who just loved horses.

Don’t get so good at riding horses that you forget what it felt like to be the person who was just learning.

Sometimes the best thing you can do for the future of our industry is let somebody else get on your horse.

-mare or gelding
-capable of jumping or already going over fences
-sound (minimal maintenance ok but tell me
up front)
-no vices in stall
-must haul well
-must love to have attention. It will be spoiled
rotten
-prefer a push ride but will consider forward as
long as it has a whoa.
-no buck or bolt

Girl is tiny but a very strong and balanced rider. Currently she jumps 2’3. She has been leasing a gelding but sadly her time is up with him. Looking for something ASAP.
It will be kept in a show barn with a trainer. It’s going to become the luckiest horse on the planet.

Well done team! The progress they have all made this year is incredible. I feel so accomplished walking away from the last show of the season the way we did. The understanding and work they have put in showed in their scores and smiles. Congrats!

It was a great show! One of our favorites. The option of classes, quality of cattle, and friendly atmosphere keeps us coming back. The volunteers put on a well run show for the second year. It was nice to see new faces and talk with old friends. We look forward to coming back next year. Thank you Fort Armstrong Ranch Horse Series.

Smooch 💋 felt amazing this weekend!

We came home with some great scores in every class.

A few weekends ago, we just weren’t clicking. My head wasn’t in it and she knew that.

Thank you Fort Armstrong Ranch Horse Series for putting on a well run show with great cattle.
