📣📣It is no secret that the lovely Western North Carolina & Eastern TN regions have been DEVASTATED by Hurricane Helene with once-in-a-century flooding and destruction. Our equine, livestock, and animal-loving community is in desperate need of help and donations. SUPERFICIAL MUSCULAR ANATOMY
Horses have several different layers of muscles. This illustration showcases the superficial, or “surface level”, muscles in the body. These are the muscles most directly influenced through myo-manipulative bodywork (fun fact, the prefix “myo” means muscle).
The muscles I have labeled are:
1. Temporalis muscle
2. Brachiocephalic muscle

4. Cervical serratus
5. Subclavian
6. Trapezius
7. Deltoid

Doing bodywork is like having a conversation with a horse.
Through their fascia and muscles you learn the story of their life, each area of tension or lack thereof telling a tale of their life journey. Some horses have very soft, pliable muscles from an easy life. Others have the firm and toned muscles of a well-taken care of athlete. And there are some who have the tight, tense muscles of a horse who was worked too hard and too young.
And I am here to listen to all of them, working through my hands. To help them release whatever they are holding in their bodies to in order to feel like their very best selves. For some horses, this looks like physical and grounding techniques like stress point therapy or Swedish massage. For others, it may look like “energetic” Shiatsu meridian work. Regardless, your horse will tell me exactly what they need from me to help them feel their very best, no matter where they come from or what their lives have looked like.
