Boxford Animal Hospital will be there with free giveaways, water, info about our amazing clinic, a spin the wheel game with prizes.
Along with local vendors, a dog agility course, adoptable dogs, and so much more! This amazing event is put together by Soul Dog Resources, an organization saving animals from euthanasia and helping find their forever homes!🐶❤️😺

Introducing Katie, our Lead Technician! Katie has been with us for almost 12 years now! You may see her working with the doctors in room appointments and your pets may have their anesthesia monitored by her in surgery!

Katie has been a technician for over 20 years. She strives to make each patient and their family feel like they are part of our family. Making them feel confident that their pet is getting the best care. Katie is also our certified cat wrangler and specializes in spicy cats!

In her free time, she loves spending time with her own cats and dogs, watching crime shows, traveling, going to concerts, Red Sox and Bruins games, and hanging out by
the ocean.

🐛 We have soon-to-be Butterflies! 🦋

🤝 Please meet our Painted Lady Butterflies, also known as the Cosmopolitan Butterflies! Our friends will be in our lobby near our front desk if you’d like to come see them! 👋

🦋 These beautiful creatures are known all across the globe, adding to the great local ecosystems.

Painted Lady Butterflies can be hosts, creating symbiotic and mutually beneficial relationships with other organisms. They are a food source to other creatures, such as birds and bats. 🐦‍⬛🦇

And most importantly, they’re pollinators! They help all the plants and trees thrive! 🌳🪴💐

While we don’t have any pictures of our new friends as eggs, we can tell you that they would be a gorgeous light green color. The eggs are spherical shape and laid individually on a plant’s leaf. And the temperature affects their speed of development! 🌿🌤️☁️

As larva, as seen below, they undergo 5 molts in their life as a caterpillar. They will grow to approximately 1.25 (one and a quarter) inches long. They’ll change color, from shades of greens to shades of brown as they grow. And towards their final growth and molts, they will develop bristles. 💚🤎

After their last molt, they will produce a silk button to suspend themselves from. They will be head down, held on by their prolegs, where they will be in a J shape as their body begins to form a chrysalis. 🐛

💐 In the pictures, you will see 16 of the cute faces who are in urgent need of transport from a shelter in the south! We have also added Soul Dog Resources’s Venmo to the pictures here. Pulling animals from shelters, transporting them, and caring for them is very costly. If you could donate to this amazing foundation or even just share this post to reach as many people as possible, we would be extremely grateful! 💐

☀️ Staff Spotlight Duo ☀️

Introducing Emma, our Veterinary Assistant and Ramsey, our Chief Morale Officer! Emma and Ramsey have been with us for almost two years now! You may see her helping the doctors in room appointments and your pets may do photo ops with her in the back!

A graduate of UMass Lowell, Emma’s passion for animals started at a young age with pets like dogs, rats, snakes, and geckos. While working at a dog rescue in college, she developed an interest in animal medicine and canine behavior. She is driven to help all animals and ensure they get the best care possible.

Outside of work, she enjoys traveling with her rescue dog, Ramsey, reading books, hanging with her cat, Frankie, and spending time with family in Maine.

Ramsey is originally from a shelter in Georgia where he was pulled by a rescue and moved to New Hampshire. There, he met his mom and started his new life in March of 2020! With a passion for being a Good Boy™️, Ramsey obtained his Canine Good Citizen certification in September of 2020. Now, Ramsey spends his time employed here at the hospital greeting our clients and showing our patients that the vet isn't a scary place!

Outside of his job here, Ramsey enjoys going with his mom, Emma, on adventures like their cross country road trip, playing with (and destroying) his Lamb Chop toys, snacking on carrots, and spending time with family in Maine.

☀️ Staff Spotlight ☀️

Introducing Myka, our Veterinary Technician! Myka has been with us for a little over a year now. You may see her assisting the doctors in room appointments and your pets may hang with her as she wakes them from anesthetic procedures!

Myka is a Graduate of North Shore Community College with an Associates in Veterinary Technology. She strives to make sure all animals feel safe and comfortable while they are here as well as when they go home at the end of the day.

You can find her playing music for the animals that are waking up after a procedure and she does take requests! When Myka is not working, her attention turns to her favorite activities including planting, video games, and looking after her three fish tanks where all her aquatic children reside.

🌹 The amazing Rosie came in for a dental with Dr. Hiler! 🌹

Dr. Hiler and Technician Katie made sure Rosie’s teeth were squeeky clean and pearly white! 🐶

☀️ Staff Spotlight ☀️

Introducing Robin, our Veterinary Assistant! Robin has been with us for about a year now, working with us when she’s home from college. You may see her when you’re checking in and out of appointments and your pet(s) may hang out with her when they’re with us for drop off appointments!

Robin is a Pre-Veterinary student at UMass Amherst. She knew she wanted to work with animals even at a young age and this passion only grew in undergrad.

While in undergrad, Robin has had the opportunity to work with all kinds of animals, such as observing a farrowing, preforming ultrasounds on sheep, participating in many labs, and so much more! She is currently beginning the journey of applying to veterinary schools as she is graduating in December!

In her free time, Robin loves going on runs, taking her dog for walks, and hanging out with family and friends.
