π©·π©·Great Day at the MendoLake RBA Brest Cancer Benefit Show in my hometown!π©·π©·
Thank you to the team for all the help and effort you put into these shows. A huge thank you to the judges who donated their time and those who donated breed sanctions and auction items!
We snagged a few BOV, BOSV, BOG, and BOSGs but our wildcard this weekend was Lil Evasion! We received BOB and BOSB Show B under Cathy Szychulda with Evasion and Glep. Evasion then went on to win BIS B under Kathi Groves with Mother Theresa winning RIS! We were stoked to win with our bestie 2 weekends in a row! Evasion's sister was our BIS winner last weekend π€
I'm not sure if it's because I'm barn blind or if it's because her sister is one of my favorites (personality and show), but I did not realize how much Evasion has grown into herself. Her sister is a bit deeper over the hip still and a touch shorter in body, but doesn't have the coat or width Evasion currently carries.
Another wildcard for me was Lil Pippa, who was BOG Tan 2/4 shows. This doe was on the cuts list for me, but I decided we should take her out at least once to get new eyes on her. Getting other people's eyes on your animals helps take away the distraction of what you don't like and can't unsee on them. I couldn't unsee the rise into the midsection on her, as I prefer a more extreme rise. I also... didn't like her shoulder. If you know me, you know I get CAUGHT UP on shoulders π€¦πΌββοΈ Getting eyes on her, friends and judges, allowed me to see her for what she is - a nicely balanced animal with slight type faults who could help our herd.
If you have one that you're on the fence about because you can't get past one or two faults that seem major, ask someone else what they think. Ask someone whose opinion really matters to you. Those 'major faults' might not be as big as you think. You might be ready to cut an animal that can further your herd.
Sometimes we're simply too hard on ourselves and the things we're most invested in ππ©·
