Maybe you've seen it growing everywhere, but you never knew its story... 🌿

Known as purple deadnettle, this common "w**d" has a long history in traditional folk remedies and is often foraged for teas and salads in early spring. Most people just mow right over it.

Butterflies aren't the only insects heading south. Dragonflies migrate too.

Some green darners make one of the longest migrations of any insect in North America. With a wingspan of up to 4 inches, they can fly more than 80 miles in a single day, with some traveling all the way from Canada to Mexico.

Their migration peaks in late summer and fall, when favorable winds can create huge swarms of dragonflies overhead.

Most people grow sage for one week a year, chop a few leaves into the Thanksgiving stuffing, and then let the poor plant sit out there ignored for another eleven months.
That's a shame, because sage might be the hardest-working herb you can grow. It thrives in hot, dry spots where almost nothing else wants to live, it pulls in beneficial insects while pushing pests away, and it asks for almost nothing in return. And the uses go way past the kitchen. There's one that turns it into a powerful natural cleaner for your whole house. Another that has it soothing a cough when you're sick. There's even a dessert it belongs in that sounds wrong until you taste it, plus a cocktail that's become my go-to for a long day.
Fourteen ways in all, and I'd bet you've only ever tried two of them.
I rounded up every single one. It's all in the first comment.
