The turkeys are turkey-ing πŸ¦ƒ

As urban homesteaders, the goal, when you raise and produce your own πŸ– in your backyard; is to steward your animals and let them live their best life & have only ONE bad day.

We are raising Bourbon Red Turkeys which is a heritage breed (meaning you could breed them) are ready to process between 25-28 weeks. The average dress weight is 12-18 pounds.

Check your city ordinances but within our city limits you can πŸ’― raise turkeys. πŸ˜‰

You can have fresh organic turkey on your Thanksgiving table every year. That is real knowing where your food comes from & becoming more self-sufficient and less reliant on THE SYSTEM!

Hey urban growers, gardeners & homesteaders πŸ‘‹

We got our 1st egg from Merida one of our Rhode Island Red chickens. So exciting πŸ™Œ 😍

Hopefully over the next few days and week the others will start laying. You can't beat eggs you gather in your own backyard.

Urban homestead update 10/13/26

You don't need a lot of land to produce your own food. You just need the right knowledge and the WANT TO, to become more .

We live in the middle of the city and we made a plan to break from THE SYSTEM as much as we could. It's been almost a year since we started implementing the vision AND there ain't no stopping us now!

Our rabbits have been in our urban rabbitry for almost 2 weeks and they are 10 weeks old.

They aren't old enough to breed yet but we are benefiting from their manure. Rabbit maure is cold manure, meaning it can go directly into the garden without composting.

Live in an urban space? Beem thinking how to produce your own food & get out of THE SYSTEM? Consider meat rabbits in your backyard, deck, balcony or patio

Here are some updated pictures of our progress πŸ‘πŸΎ πŸ’ͺ πŸ’―

1 year ago we didn't know what an urban homestead was or should look like. We just began writing the vision (Habbakuk 2:2), doing the research and putting in the work!

What we accomplished is not perfect and definitely not ALL we plan to build BUT this is our 1st Fruits of a life of self sufficiency & food security.

Our urban homestead is expanding πŸ‘πŸΎ πŸ’― πŸ‘·β€β™‚οΈ

We added our FIRST New Zealand white rabbit (doe) she is 8 weeks old. She was born to a litter of seven, so she comes from a good line & she is super friendly πŸ˜‡

But we could use your help? What should we name her?
