Do you know what part of the hoof allows it to flex? I'll give you a hint... 🐸
It's the frog! Because of the frog's specialized anatomy, the hoof can flex outwards as the hoof is compressed during the loading phase. This is also when blood is compressed out of the hoof and up the leg!

The frog stay specifically allows for independent movement of the heels, giving the horse stability even when navigating rough and uneven terrain 🏜🐎

One of the more interesting retracted soles I've run across this monsoon season!

I generally like to remove more wall at the separation site, but this horse was much more comfortable with having extra EXTRA wall support to take some of the pressure off the rolled over lamina.

This horse has responded well, and is even going back to work after having to be booted with stall rest. This picture is the second trim I did on this sweet Fresian cross.

This was an unexpected find! A mesquite thorn in the frog. Be sure to check your horses hooves regularly! This could have been much worse 😱

Significant postural improvements and proprioceptive feedback from hooves post trim
= yawns after trimming

This old man had severely long toes. I adjusted his hooves to have proper heel/toe ratio. During the trim, it was almost like he didn’t know what to do with his body. He was shifting his weight between his legs. Once I turned him back out into the arena after we were done, he took his new hooves for a test drive, and eventually started yawning. Big release! And increased well-being 😊 my favorite 😍

All of this may seem impressive, but quality assurance had some opinions of its own (video in comments) 😅

Horse husbandry has always been a deep passion of mine, so this addition feels natural and exciting!
