If you've ever tried to take a family vacation, you already know…

The itinerary is really just a SUGGESTION. 😂

Our original plan sounded great.

Then my wife decided she needed to stay behind, catch up on laundry, clean the house, and get some much-needed space.

Then the two oldest girls decided:

“If Mom's not going, WE'RE not going.”

Alright…change of plans. 😂

Now Mom's coming.

Except she still has to PACK.

Suddenly we're TWO HOURS behind schedule, the original dinner plans are out the window, and we're adjusting the trip before we've really even started it.

When you've got a wife and four kids, sometimes the biggest adventure isn't the destination…

It's getting everybody out of the HOUSE. 😂

“Opening a hunting store? THAT'S SICK!”

Yeah…especially when it isn't your money. 😂

From the outside, opening a hunting store sounds like every hunter's DREAM.

But behind the excitement was a decision carrying an incredible amount of weight:

We had roughly HALF A MILLION DOLLARS tied up in making this happen.

And if it didn't work?

That's where the stress gets REAL.

At the same time, we were still in the middle of hunting season, running mentored hunts, preparing for ATA, and trying to determine whether this was truly the direction Revive Outdoors was supposed to go.

So before getting everybody excited about the idea, there was something more important to do:

PRAY.

“Lord, I need more vision. I need You to speak to me.”

Because sometimes the answer doesn't come in the way you're expecting.

Sometimes God uses the people around you to provide the confirmation and direction you've been asking for.

And that's exactly where this story was headed.

“We want to be KING now. We don't want to be DEVELOPED into king.”

That one will preach. 🎯

Sometimes God has already put the pieces in front of you.

The opportunity is there.

The people are there.

The vision is there.

But YOU might not be ready for it yet.

And that's why TIMING matters.

Think about David.

He was anointed to become king when he was young—but the throne didn't immediately follow.

There was a DEVELOPMENT phase.

A learning phase.

Different seasons.

Big victories AND difficult moments along the way.

We look at somebody else's success and want to jump straight to the destination.

But we don't see everything that happened BEFORE they got there.

Six years into building Revive Outdoors, we're STILL learning and figuring things out.

Maybe the season you're in right now isn't delaying your purpose.

Maybe it's DEVELOPING you for it.

Don't be so focused on becoming king that you miss what God is trying to teach you BEFORE you get the crown.

Track day is NOT race day.

This is where you learn.

Learn the car.

Learn the track.

Learn every braking point, turn, and gear before the pressure of an actual race ever starts.

We spent the morning riding with instructors so they could make sure each of us was ready to go out SOLO.

Anthony went first and crushed it.

Brad went second and crushed it.

Then it was my turn.

And despite the heat, all the simulator work and preparation started paying off.

The instructor literally told us:

“Y’all have to be lying that you’ve never been on a track.” 😂

We’ve spent hours on sims, studying footage, and mentally running through every single corner before ever driving it for real.

I even got nauseous doing the simulator. 😂

But once we hit the actual track, I knew where I wanted to be, what gear I needed, and what points I was looking for.

That’s what track day is for.

Practice now so race day feels FAMILIAR.

Want to discover what you're actually capable of?

Start SERVING.

God created you with a unique combination of gifts, strengths, and abilities—but sometimes you don't discover what those are until you put yourself in a position to USE them.

Serve at your church.

Serve in your community.

Volunteer with an organization like Revive Outdoors.

Find somewhere you can use what you've been given to help somebody ELSE.
At church, we call it:

SERVE ONE. WORSHIP ONE.

If there are multiple services, serve during one and worship during another.
If there's only one?

Show up early. Stay late. Find SOMETHING that needs to be done.

Don't worry about finding the perfect position immediately.

Just start serving.

Do that consistently for ONE YEAR, then look back at the person you were when you started.

You might be surprised by the gifts you discover, the relationships you build, and how drastically different your life looks.

One hand. One finger. LOCKED. 🔒

That's one of the features I really like about the Hunt Arsenal Glide setup.

Today wasn’t about just going FASTER.

It was about getting SMOOTHER. 🏎️

The goal was to really nail down our racing line, clean up our steering inputs, and stop making those jerky corrections through the corners.

Smooth hands.

Smooth turns.

Hit your marks.

Repeat it lap after lap.

We also had a NEW instructor jump in with us, which gave the entire team another perspective on what we were doing.

Our first instructor had been absolutely crushing it, but with temperatures feeling over 100 degrees, he made the smart decision to step away when he wasn’t feeling 100%.

A ton of respect for that.

And having two different instructors look at our driving may actually end up being one of the most valuable parts of the weekend.

Different eyes see different things.

Now it’s about taking those lessons, getting more comfortable with the car, and making the correct racing line feel AUTOMATIC.

Because when race day comes, consistency matters just as much as speed.
