'"Science" is often invoked in dog training discussions to signal intelligence, moral superiority, and to shame those who advocate for balanced approaches.'

This was a great podcast episode featuring Dr. Melanie Uhde, that goes through the science of stress, stress inoculation, and the benefits to our dogs wrt exposure to stress and overcoming stressors. In the episode, they unpack the studies commonly cited to condemn punishment.

Shielding our dogs from every stressor in life and swaddling them in only the comforts of life does not make for well-balanced, resilient dogs that can function well in the real world. Shielding our dogs from every stressor in life is NOT good welfare.
