But we only have 5 of 55 safe horses with 26 set to leave at 6pm EST on a Canadian slaughter truck headed for human consumption.

You guys have absolutely held the line for days.

How can I ask you to charge across and fight the enemy now?

Colby’s Crew Rescue
CAN YOU SPOT THE BABY??

These young six month old foals can slip through the bars into big paddocks full of frightened and over crowded horses. Once separated from their mothers, they lose their bearings and make poor choices.

This baby is lucky to be alive.

He went down and was trampled (too disturbing to post here) and Ally sprang into action to get him out.

In just a moment I’ll post the video of a very daring rescue, but we NEED donations.

We only have 4 out of 55 horses safe.

They are prepping the first Canadian truck at 6 today.

THE FINAL DAY Colby’s Crew Rescue

55 horses remain inside the slaughter holding facility.

And then it’s empty.

And it’ll stay empty for days.

Which never happens…

Any horse shown up until this point is safe in QT.

Now we focus on the final 55…

We’ve come so far.

And the finish line is truly in sight.

SAVE, A Friend to Homeless Animals
OSCAR NEEDS SURGERY TO BREATHE: Can you help us give him a second chance? 🐾💔

His surgery is scheduled for TOMORROW, Sept. 10th. We keep telling Oscar that he is finally going to feel so much better. Soon, he will be able to breathe more freely—and enjoy the walks, playtime, and zoomies that every dog deserves!

Like many small bulldogs, Oscar’s adorable smooshy face and underbite comes with a serious downside: his nasal passages are so narrow he cannot use them to breathe. He can only breathe through his mouth.

On the very day Oscar arrived at SAVE, he needed an emergency visit to the animal hospital. Since then, he has been on cage rest because even a short walk in the heat and humidity can leave him struggling for air.

Oscar will undergo specialized surgery to open his nostrils and shorten his soft palate so air can finally flow more freely. He will be neutered at the same time🌟 His procedure will cost SAVE approximately $8,000 🌟

We know we have asked for your help before. Because of you, animals facing medical emergencies have received the care they desperately needed. But the emergencies keep coming—and now it’s Oscar’s turn. And he deserves it! ❤️❤️❤️

All Seated in a Barn
He was never supposed to be on our list..

Leann and I walked the direct-ship field on Monday, knowing we couldn’t choose every single one who needed us.

We added six.

Then there was him.

A sick gelding standing alone, clearly not feeling well but still incredibly sweet. I told Leann that someone else would choose him. Surely someone would see what we saw and step forward.

But as we got into the car, I asked the other rescues one more time.

No one had chosen him.

We started to pull away—and I couldn’t do it.

“Stop. Stop. Stop.”

I knew what leaving him behind would mean. I grabbed a rope, Leann and I jumped the fence, and we went searching for him.

We found him standing alone in another paddock. He was so weak that it took three of us to get him out of the field and up the hill. One pulled from the front, another pushed from behind, and the third kept encouraging him forward.

By the time we reached the barn, all of us were exhausted.

But he was there. SAFE— and I felt a million times better morally and just that ‘I did the right thing’.

He was given antibiotics immediately and transported to the vet, where he is already doing so much better.

The vet team is testing him for salmonella and determining whether this is something more serious or a respiratory illness that simply got out of control.

Taking in a sick horse is scary. It could require one injection—or become weeks of hospitalization and thousands of dollars in care. With support being down over the last several months, that uncertainty weighs heavy on decisions.

But I knew leaving him there would weigh on me forever.

So today, I want to introduce you to Save No. 46!

Meet timestamped Elf!
Elf must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER or EXPERIENCED ADOPTER by 10AM THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 10.

Elf is a gentle girl who loves affection and will lean into her people for pets. While she can still be sensitive to handling when she is feeling unsure, she has become increasingly comfortable and now often seeks out attention, happily enjoying head scratches and cuddles.
She has also shown a playful side, enjoying time in the yard and wanting to play with dogs through the fence. She can sometime be a little tense when meeting other dogs, but is also curious and willing to mingle.
Elf can pull strongly on leash, particularly when she is excited or overwhelmed, so an experienced handler who can help her feel secure while continuing to build her confidence will be important.

Elf is looking for a patient home where she can decompress, build trust, and continue discovering how wonderful life outside the shelter can be. Once she feels comfortable, this sweet girl is eager to show you her affectionate and playful side.
