🐾 Happy Tails, Finn
Some dogs come into rescue through pure chance… and some through God’s gentle nudge.
Finn was one of those.
He came to us when a Tracy resident asked for help scanning a found dog for a microchip. He had been discovered wandering downtown near Taps on Tenth, alone in the dark while the crowds celebrated. With all the noise, lights, and chaos of the event, Finn had no one looking for him — and no one came forward afterward. The finder couldn’t keep him, and Finn needed a safe place fast.
We posted for a foster… and an amazing couple stepped up instantly.
The first few days were rough — nerves, uncertainty, and the delicate dance of introducing him to their resident dog. But they didn’t give up. They committed. They walked together, worked together, and slowly built trust through pack walks and patience.
And then something beautiful happened.
They bonded.
Deeply.
Now they are inseparable fursiblings, best friends who play, nap, and explore life side by side.
Finn was fully vetted through our rescue — fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated — so he could start his new life on the right paw. And what a life he has now. This big baby is all love, tail wags, and gratitude. He is treasured, adored, and finally home.

Shiloh has been with Tracy DogGirls Rescue for over a year, and every single day she reminds us why she deserves a forever home that finally chooses her.

At 1 year and 9 months old, this stunning Malamute girl is:

🐾 A Hard Story, but a True One — And These 4 Little Lives Deserve to Be Seen
Some rescue stories are beautiful from the start.
Some are messy.
Some break your heart before they ever have a chance to heal it.

These four precious puppies were found at Del Osso Farms, discarded in a box like trash — tiny babies, only 8–9 weeks old, just old enough to survive without their mom. Someone made the choice to leave them behind. Someone decided they were disposable.

But they were found.
They were saved.
And they matter.

💔 What Happened Next
A finder picked them up and reached out to TDGR for help. She agreed to foster, completed the paperwork, and we believed she wanted to do right by them.

But rescue teaches you that not everyone who sounds responsible actually is.

She later followed the advice of a self‑proclaimed “dog lover” in Tracy who convinced her to take the puppies to an out‑of‑jurisdiction shelter — and lie about where they were found. She did exactly that, even keeping one of the puppies for herself, without ever checking for an owner.

And while we strongly believe these puppies were dumped by an irresponsible owner, we still have an ethical and legal responsibility to look for their rightful owner. Rescue has taught us that sometimes the truth is stranger than the story — and we have reunited dogs with families who were desperately searching for them.

Doing the right thing isn’t always easy.
But it is always right.

🌟 Where They Are Now
These four girls completed their 5‑day stray hold at the shelter, as required by law. They are now safe, loved, and protected thanks to Roberta Carpenter and her family, who stepped up without hesitation to foster all four.

Shelters are no place for puppies — the disease risk is high, the stress is overwhelming, and caring for them is double the work for already exhausted staff. Getting them out was urgent, and Roberta made that possible.

🏡 What Happens Next
We are accepting applications for these puppies over the next 5–7 days while we continue our due diligence to look for an owner. After that, we will begin placing them into foster‑to‑adopt homes once home checks are completed. These are terrier mixes so will be small/medium size dogs. They are appox 8-11 pds right now.

💔 Chico’s Story Deserves to Be Heard — Please Read and Share
Some dogs come back to us carrying a story that is heavy, tender, and undeserved. Chico is one of them.

Chico didn’t fail his family.
His family didn’t fail him.
Life simply became too hard for everyone involved.

Chico came to TDGR as a tiny puppy — all ears, paws, and promise. He grew into a beautiful, strong, goofy Shepherd mix who just wants to be loved, played with, and included. He is about 2 years old now, still young, still learning, still full of joy.

But the family who adopted him is an elderly couple caring for their medically fragile adult son — a son who requires full‑time care in a medical bed. Their days are filled with lifting, tending, monitoring, and surviving. And as Chico grew, so did the gap between what he needed and what they could physically give.

They tried.
They loved him.
They hoped it would get easier.

But it didn’t.

Recently, during one of his excited, happy bursts of energy — the kind every young dog has — Chico accidentally knocked his mom over. She was injured. And in that moment, their hearts broke in two directions: fear for their safety, and grief for the dog they love but can no longer keep safe or meet the needs of.

This decision is not made lightly.
It is not made out of frustration.
It is made out of love — the hardest kind.

🌟 Who Chico Really Is
Chico is not a “bad dog.”
He is not aggressive.
He is not difficult.

He is a sweet, affectionate, playful boy who has been unintentionally starved of the one thing he craves most: connection.

He wants to play fetch.
He wants to zoom around the yard with another dog.
He wants to flop on the cool floor after a good run.
He wants to curl up next to his human and finally feel like he belongs again.
He wants to be brushed and brushed.

🧸❤️ Happy Tails: Teddy (formerly Butterscotch)
Some dogs carry stories that stay with you long after the rescue is over.
Teddy is one of them.

When we first met him, he was Butterscotch — a heartbroken boy lying beside his deceased friend on the side of a rural road, refusing to leave. He stayed loyal even in loss. He stayed present even in fear. And for days, maybe a week, he survived alone in an orchard… hungry, trembling, unsure where safety lived anymore.

But even in that darkness, he held on.

And then everything changed.

Today, Butterscotch is NKA Teddy, and his life looks nothing like the one he came from. He now wakes up in a home filled with children who adore him, adults who protect him, and fur siblings who keep him busy, tired, and learning how to trust again.

He is discovering what it means to be a dog —
to eat without fear,
to sleep without listening for danger,
to play without hesitation,
to love without losing.

He went from scavenging for scraps to eating like a king, from surviving moment to moment to finally living a life that stretches far beyond the pain he endured.

🐟💨 Happy Tails: Anchovy (aka Beau) — Professional Zoomie Partner Secured!
If Sandy could talk, she would’ve filed an official request months ago:
“I need a sibling. Preferably one who runs fast, plays hard, and doesn’t mind being tackled mid‑zoomie.”

Well… wish granted.

Beau — now proudly rocking the name Anchovy — was one of the first of Polly’s puppies to get scooped up. And honestly, we weren’t surprised. His adopters already raised Sandy from Hazel’s litter into a social butterfly, spoiled princess, and full‑time adventure buddy. They’re the kind of family who turn puppies into legends.

Anchovy recently got neutered (aka “graduated from puppy college”) and was officially cleared for adoption. And the moment he walked into his new home, Sandy basically said:
“Finally. My minion has arrived.”

Now the two of them are living their best double‑dog life:

shared snacks

shared naps

shared plans to take over the backyard

From a momma who survived months alone… to a litter we refused to give up on… to this goofy little fish‑named boy landing the perfect home — this is what rescue magic looks like.

Ruby NKA Polly — From Thrown Away to Treasured Forever 💗
Ruby NKA Polly’s story begins the way too many do in our community — with a dog who gave everything, only to be discarded the moment she was no longer “useful.”

After delivering a litter for an irresponsible backyard breeder, Ruby was dumped in Hidden Lake in Tracy.
Alone. Scared. Confused.
Thrown away like trash.

But Ruby knew something the humans who failed her didn’t:
She was worth saving.

When we set the trap, she walked right in — instantly. We didn’t even have time to drive away. She looked at us with those soft, pleading eyes that said, “Please… help me.” And we did.

We searched for her puppies, hoping they hadn’t been tossed aside too — but knowing backyard breeders often keep the puppies to sell for profit. A heartbreaking reminder: never buy purebreds from backyard breeders. Dogs like Ruby pay the price.

Ruby was taken in by a kind neighbor who cared for her until allergies made it impossible to continue. From there, she moved to another home — and that’s where her story transformed.

Ruby blossomed.

She became playful, joyful, and deeply connected to her new family. She adores her fursiblings (including the cat!), loves being part of a pack, and finally understands what it means to be safe. To be wanted. To be loved.

Today, Ruby is treasured — truly, deeply, permanently.
She will never be discarded again.
She will never wonder where her people are.
She will never feel the cold sting of abandonment.

She is home.
She is loved.

🐾 Our Beautiful Hazel Needs Us

Our sweet girl Hazel had to visit the vet yesterday, and we learned she has a severe UTI along with crystals in her urine. That means she now needs to be on CD prescription food along with antibiotics— and as many of you know, that food is not cheap.

Hazel is a 65‑lb gentle giant, which means she’ll need a lot of this food for the next 5–6 months minimum to keep her healthy and prevent further complications.

This is one of those moments where rescue becomes a community effort.

We pour our hearts into these dogs, but we can’t do it alone.

🐾 The True Heroes of Rescue
There are heroes in this world who don’t wear capes.
They don’t ask for applause.
They don’t step into the spotlight.

They simply open their homes — and their hearts — at a moment’s notice.

These are our fosters.

The ones who say yes when the phone rings at 10 PM.
The ones who rearrange their lives for a dog who has nowhere else to go.
The ones who keep showing up, over and over again, even when it’s hard, even when it hurts, even when the world doesn’t see what they carry.

Rescue isn’t possible without them.
Not even close.

God asked us to care for the smallest of His children — and I believe that includes the animals He placed in our world. Our fosters live that calling every single day. They pour love, patience, and grace into dogs who have known fear, abandonment, trauma, and uncertainty.

Some of our dogs come to us pregnant.
Some come feral.
Some come timid, terrified, or unable to trust men.
Some come with separation anxiety so deep it shakes their whole body.

And our fosters say, “Give them to me. I’ll help them heal.”

They are the ones teaching these dogs that hands can be gentle, homes can be safe, and people can be trusted again. They are the ones whispering, “You’re loved. You’re safe. You’re not alone anymore.”

They are the ones who stay for weeks… months… sometimes years… until the perfect family comes along.

They are the quiet heroes who turn broken beginnings into beautiful futures.
