Today is National Rescue Dog Day… and for us at the GELA Foundation, it’s personal.

This foundation began with one extraordinary rescue dog named Gela. Gela wasn’t “just a dog.” She was the kind of soul that changes people. The kind that walks into your life and quietly teaches you what unconditional love really looks like. She loved everyone. Every person. Every child. Every dog. Every moment. She never met a stranger and she never met a dog she didn’t want to be friends with.

She showed us grace.
She showed us loyalty.
She showed us that love doesn’t care where you came from.
And maybe that’s why rescue dogs are so special.

Somewhere along the way, despite whatever they’ve been through… abandonment, neglect, fear, hunger, loss… they still choose love. They still wag their tails. They still trust again. They still curl up beside you like you are the greatest thing they’ve ever known.

Rescue dogs don’t care if your house is perfect. They don’t care what kind of car you drive. They don’t care about bad days, messy hair, or broken hearts. They just love you.

And honestly? Some of the very best dogs in this world are waiting in rescues and shelters right now for someone to simply give them a chance. That’s why we say:
Adopt - don't shop.
Get Extraordinary Love; ADOPT - extraordinary love absolutely comes from a rescue dog.

Gela’s legacy lives on in every life we save, every foster who says yes, every adopter who opens their heart, and every dog who gets a second chance.

So today, hug your rescue dogs a little tighter. Share their stories. Celebrate the ones we’ve loved and lost. And if you’ve ever thought about adopting… maybe this is your sign. Because one rescue dog changed our entire world.

Small Business Saturday — Support Rescue, Give Love

Today is Small Business Saturday, and there’s no better way to celebrate than by supporting the heart of our mission — helping abandoned, neglected, and homeless dogs find safety, love, and forever homes.

This year, you can make your gift even more meaningful:
🎁 Donate in honor of someone you love
🎁 Make a donation as a gift FROM someone else
We’ll send a beautiful GELA Donation Certificate you can print or gift — perfect for the dog lover in your life!

And today through Giving Tuesday …
Every donation made on Small Business Saturday through Giving Tuesday will be entered into a drawing to win GELA merch!
Winners will be chosen to receive:
🐶 GELA hats
👕 GELA shirts
🐾 Dog bowls
🦴 Food mats
…all would make incredible gifts for anyone who loves dogs and loves supporting rescue.

And if you don’t win, don’t worry — You can always purchase any of our GELA items! Every single dollar benefits our pups.

Your donation doesn’t just give a gift — it gives a dog hope, healing, and a second chance.

Thank you for supporting small, supporting local, and supporting rescue.

Wellness Wednesday with Caroline Seniorly Inc. Premier Advisor

I always remind families — don’t forget the caregiver.

You need rest, nourishment, and moments of care just as much as your loved one does. Taking time for yourself isn’t selfish — it’s necessary. When you’re rested and supported, you’re able to show up with more patience, love, and strength.

So today, take a deep breath, eat a good meal, and give yourself the same compassion you so freely give to others. You deserve it.
