💔 SCHEDULED FOR EUTH TODAY 5/4 @ 4PM 💔 DUMPED BY HER OWNER!
The shelter gave her a few extra days but no one has stepped up. No one has shown interest. And the behavior notes, those awful rushed lines written in a chaotic kennel, are what are going to end her life.
This is her last chance. She dies at 4 PM today, May 4th.
I saw her Saturday. I saw a 7 year old girl who has been worn down by life long before she ever walked into that shelter. Pressure sores on her legs. A dull coat. A tired, defeated body. She has had litters. She has known hardship. Her body tells a story that no note ever could.
Yes she barked at first. Of course she did. She is trapped in an 8 by 10 plastic kennel filled with noise and strangers. But when I stayed calm, spoke softly, and gave her space, she softened. Her body settled. She watched me. She sniffed. She wagged.
The shelter notes themselves show she can relax when given space. They say she softened with a helper dog, sniffed, wagged, and even initiated play in the yard. Even the shelter saw her potential, her ability to regulate, her desire to engage. That is the dog she truly is, not the scared version portrayed in the notes.
And still the notes, reactive, stiff, barking, growling, are what will decide her fate. They are not her. They are a snapshot of fear, overwhelm, and discomfort. They are not the girl I saw.
Even the smallest show of interest, a call, an email, a rescue inquiry, can buy her more time. She deserves medical care. She deserves rest and safety. She deserves someone willing to fight for her and see the dog she can be outside of the shelter.
She does not need a label. She needs a hero.
. 7 years old.
