I want to clarify the situation regarding a kitten I placed who later developed FIP, because there is important context that has been left out.
When this kitten went to her new home, she was not quarantined. There was already another recently purchased male kitten in the home who was very sick. My kitten subsequently became ill and later developed FIP.
As soon as I learned what was happening, I told the owner that I believed we could be dealing with FIP. I drove two hours to personally bring her medication so treatment could begin. At some point, the owner chose to discontinue that medication without informing me.
Approximately a month later, I was contacted again and told that the kitten was extremely sick. I went to pick her up at 10 p.m. that night. When I got her, she was one of the sickest cats I have ever seen. She weighed only 4 pounds, while her littermates were around 9 pounds. At that point, I genuinely did not know whether I would be able to save her.
But I did.
I took responsibility for her care, treated her, and fought incredibly hard to get her healthy again. Today, she is alive, healthy, happy, and thriving.
I have now been asked to provide another kitten or issue a refund. I will not be doing either. I cannot in good conscience place another kitten into the same environment after what occurred, particularly when quarantine procedures were not followed and treatment for the first kitten was discontinued without my knowledge.
I take the health and welfare of every kitten I raise extremely seriously. When this kitten needed help, I didn’t turn my back on her. I drove hours to bring medication, picked her up late at night when she became critically ill, took her back into my care, and ultimately saved her life.
I stand behind the decisions I made for this kitten, and her being healthy and thriving today is what matters most to me.
These pictures are of her and her littermate at taken around the SAME TIME! This was pure NEGLECT! It’s disgusting. So if you see comments and posts on the bad breeder page please take all sides into consideration❤️ Also just to make sure everyone knows I retired both parents! While FIPs cause isn’t completely known, I never want to chance the genetics of my cattery!!
