With each rescue comes something to learn, and sometimes one rescued animal becomes part of another animal’s healing journey. Meatball is doing exactly that for Lucifer, our street cat we saved over a year ago. Lucifer has always struggled with trusting humans and feeling completely comfortable inside a home. But Meatball is helping show him that it is okay to climb onto the bed, sleep beside us, interact with us more, play, and simply trust.
This went on all night long. Even though their shenanigans woke me up more times than I can count, I enjoyed every minute of it because I got to watch Lucifer playing on our bed and feeling safe enough to just be a cat.
Lucifer has come such a long way. We have shared his entire rescue journey because we want people to see that not every cat found living outside needs to be left on the streets. Some are abandoned. Some are scared. Some simply need time, patience, love, and another animal like Meatball to show them that humans and homes can be safe.
Please open your heart and home to a street cat. You may be giving them the first real chance they have ever had to learn what it feels like to be safe, loved, and home.
