An Important Update to Our Longleaf Family
Dear clients,
After much thought, careful consideration, and conversations with fellow veterinarians in our community, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue our after-hours emergency services, effective November 2, 2026.
Please know that this decision was not made lightly. We understand how important it is to have someone you know and trust available when your pet needs care, especially during an emergency. We recognize that this change may bring questions or concerns, and we want to assure you that the health and well-being of your pets is our highest priority.
While we have always done our best to be available when our clients need us, emergency situations often require more specialized equipment, continuous monitoring, and around-the-clock staffing that our hospital is unable to provide outside of regular business hours. By recommending dedicated 24-hour emergency facilities, we can help ensure that pets experiencing an emergency have access to the attention and level of care they need.
Dr. Barrett will continue to offer limited Saturday morning on-call availability at this time. Should this availability change, we will notify our clients in advance.
