UPDATE: COVERED, thank you Danny Wempe

Hi everyone! I am in desperate need of someone that can take Patches to his vet appt tomorrow. I came home and he had an embarrassing problem that needs attention.
Unfortunately I have to be in office all day and there is no way around it.

Patches is almost 18 years old, he rides well in the car.

Our vet is pretty flexible, so I can most likely get an appt that works for you.

The sanctuary is located in The Colony and our vet is in Farmers Branch

If anyone can assist, I would greatly appreciate it.

💛 In Loving Memory of Mickey

It’s with the greatest sadness that on Sunday, we helped Mickey cross over the Rainbow Bridge. Some souls fight harder than we ever could have imagined, and Mickey was one of them.

Our brave boy carried on through a long, difficult battle with a brain lesion, meeting each day with a resilience that humbled us. Even when his body grew tired, his spirit never dimmed.

Mickey wasn’t just a dog we loved—he was a presence. A steady heartbeat in the room. A quiet comfort on the hard days. A soft nudge reminding us that even in struggle, there is still sweetness to be found. He had a way of looking at you that made you feel understood, like he was holding space for you just as you held space for him.

We will remember the way he loved—gently, loyally, and with an unmatched enthusiasm for butt scratches. That simple joy could light him up instantly, reminding us that comfort and connection often live in the smallest, silliest, most tender moments.

Saying goodbye to him was one of the hardest things we’ve ever had to do. Letting him go meant releasing a piece of our hearts, but it also meant giving him the peace he so deeply deserved after fighting for so long.

We will carry with us the warmth of his body curled beside us, the softness of his face, the quiet trust in his eyes. Mickey’s life was a gift, and his absence is felt in every corner of our home.

But we take comfort in knowing he is finally free from pain. No more confusion, no more struggle—just lightness, clarity, and rest. We imagine him whole again, moving with ease, watching over us with that same steady love.

Mickey, thank you for every moment. Thank you for your courage, your sweetness, and the way you made our lives better simply by being in them. You will always be our little potato, always missed, always loved.
🌈 Until we meet again.

We need your help! We have 3 different items we are seeking assistance with.

1. We have put off extremely needed dentals for 4 of our senior pups - Meaty, Marilyn, Charlotte and Mocha. These dentals will be more extensive that the last group we did a few months ago. Most likely all their teeth are looking like they will be removed. We are very fortunate to have an amazing vet that does reduced cost dentals. The dental is $250.00 and the max extraction cost for all teeth is $180.00 for a total max cost of $430.00 each dog.
We also have 2 that need a dental and an added surgery. Stevie needs a full dental extraction and also to be spayed. She also needs full blood panel on her liver bloodwork. Her costs are estimated to be approx 750. Chino needs full dental and cherry eye surgery, his costs are estimated to be 580.

If you are able to assist with any of the dentals and surgeries we would greatly appreciate it. Every little bit helps! Our vet has a payment link where you can pay direct.

2. It's time for annual exams and vaccines. All our pups will be seen for their annual exam, bloodwork, f***l, xrays, vaccines and few also have custom blood panels for specific conditions.

Our primary vet also accepts direct payments.

3. We are looking for temporary fosters for all our babies from April 12th to April 17th. If you are able to provide a very short term place for our babies to lay their heads and be loved on, please let me know ASAP. We provide all essentials.... beds, crates, blankets, food and meds if needed.

💛 In Loving Memory of Gladis 💛
Our tiny grumpy girl, our side‑eye queen, our perfectly imperfect little wonder.

Yesterday, we said goodbye to Gladis — a girl whose personality was bigger than her body and whose spirit outlasted every expectation. When she first came to us with congestive heart failure, we were told we might only have six months with her. Six months to love her, spoil her, and earn that rare, precious moment when she’d soften and let you in.

But Gladis had her own plans.
Those six months turned into twenty‑two extraordinary months — months filled with sass, stubbornness, warmth, and the kind of quiet magic only a girl like her could bring. She didn’t just survive; she lived, fully and unapologetically, right up until the end.

Gladis wasn’t here to impress anyone. She showed up exactly as she was — spicy, opinionated, hilarious, and deeply loyal to the people she chose as hers. Beneath that iconic grumpy glare was a girl who loved her soft blankets, her routines, and the humans who understood her language.

We were lucky to be her safe place. Lucky to earn her trust. Lucky to witness her rewrite her own timeline with sheer will and a whole lot of heart.

Losing her hurts. It always does when the ones with the biggest personalities leave the biggest spaces behind. But we take comfort in knowing she left this world wrapped in love, dignity, and gentleness — exactly what she deserved.

Run free, sweet Gladis.
May your naps be warm, your snacks be endless, and may you forever give that legendary grumpy side‑eye from the Rainbow Bridge.
You were one of a kind. And you were so very loved.

The Colony, TX

🌶️✨ Meet Marilyn — The Spicy Sweetheart Looking for Her Person! ✨🌶️

At 9 years young, Marilyn the Chihuahua is the perfect blend of sassy, snuggly, and seriously adorable. She’s got that classic Chi confidence, a little dash of spice, and a whole lot of love to give.

Marilyn is a ride‑or‑die companion who wants to be with her human as much as possible. If you’ve ever dreamed of a tiny shadow who follows you from room to room, supervises your snacks, and curls up beside you for every cozy moment, she’s your girl.

She’s also an adventure-loving explorer who enjoys checking out new places and sniffing all the good things. Highly treat‑motivated and well trained, Marilyn is eager to learn, eager to please, and always ready for the next fun outing.

She LOVES to play and gets along wonderfully with other dogs, but let’s be honest — Marilyn knows she’s the main character. She’s a bit of an alpha lady, so she’d thrive as an only dog or with one calm, respectful sibling who doesn’t mind letting her run the show.

Marilyn is fully vetted — spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines. She does have a grade 3 heart murmur, but with no heart enlargement. Her vet team is simply keeping an eye on it, and she’s living her life joyfully and without limitations.

Marilyn’s Highlights
- 💛 9‑year‑old Chihuahua with a big personality
- 🌶️ A little spicy, a little sassy, always entertaining
- 🐾 Adventure lover and curious explorer
- 🍖 Highly treat‑motivated and well trained
- 🐕 Gets along great with other dogs
- 🎀 Best with calmer pups or as the solo star
- 🩺 Fully vetted: spayed, microchipped, UTD on vaccines
- ❤️ Grade 3 heart murmur with no enlargement
- 🎉 Playful, affectionate, and full of charm

Marilyn is ready to bring joy, laughter, and a whole lot of character into her forever home. If you’re looking for a pint‑sized queen with a heart of gold and a spark of sass, Marilyn is waiting to meet you.

****UPDATE****

Our sweet Miss Hillary made her way to the east coast! Hillary arrived in Rhode Island to our rescue partner Small Dog Rescue of New England on Saturday. She is currently in a foster home and experienced her first blizzard!

The Colony, TX

🌟 Meet Hillary — the Comeback Queen! 🌟

This fabulous little lady has been on a major transformation journey. Once a plus‑sized princess at 26 pounds, Hillary has worked her tail off (with plenty of wiggles along the way) and is now rocking a sleek, healthy 14 pounds.

At 11 years young, she’s feeling lighter, brighter, and ready for her next big milestone — finding her forever person to cheer her on as she continues her wellness journey.

Hillary is the definition of a snuggle bug. If you’ve ever dreamed of a warm, wiggly companion curled up beside you in bed, she’s your girl. She adores being close, soaking up affection, and turning herself into the world’s cutest weighted blanket.

She’s also a social butterfly who loves playing with other dogs and soaking up sunshine whenever she gets the chance. Give her a warm patch of light and she’ll happily melt into it.

Hillary gets along beautifully with dogs her size or smaller, and with her newfound energy, she sometimes thinks she’s big enough to take on the big dogs too — a little sassy confidence never hurt anyone.

She comes fully prepared for her next chapter: spayed, microchipped, and up‑to‑date on all vaccines.
If you’re looking for a sweetheart with a glow‑up story, a cuddly spirit, and a heart full of determination, Hillary is ready to love you fiercely and snuggle you daily.

If interested in Hillary please complete the adoption application

💛 Alongside the celebrations, we carry some heartache too
Rescue gives us some of the brightest moments imaginable… and some of the heaviest. This year, we said goodbye to a few beloved souls far sooner than we ever wanted to. Each one left an imprint on our hearts, and we honor them by sharing their stories.

✨ Lola — June
Just three weeks after arriving with her sisters, our tiny queen Lola let us know she was tired. Cancer was ravaging her little body, and despite all our efforts, her pain was too great. We held her close as she crossed over, grateful we could give her comfort, dignity, and love in her final days.

✨ Sam — July
Sam’s passing was sudden and devastating. One moment he was with us, and the next he was gone. His loss shook us deeply, a reminder of how fragile and precious every moment is. He was cherished, and he is missed.

✨ Gertie — August
Sweet Gertie, with her gentle eyes and soft presence, battled congestive heart failure. We hoped for more time—just a little more sunshine, a few more cuddles—but her body had other plans. Saying goodbye was heartbreaking, but she left this world wrapped in love.

✨ Winston — October
Winston, our goofy, joyful boy, had a spirit that could light up any room. His body, though, grew tired long before his heart did. Letting him go was one of the hardest decisions, but we knew he deserved peace after giving us so much laughter and sweetness.

🌈 Until we meet again
Every loss hits hard. We want them all to stay forever. But we take comfort in imagining them young, healthy, and free—frolicking together at the Rainbow Bridge, waiting for the day we’ll see them again.

Their stories matter. Their lives mattered. And they will always be part of ours.
