In this session, Taka is practicing known behaviors—sit, down, heel, and puppy push-ups—while moving from continuous reinforcement to a variable reinforcement schedule. Once a behavior is fluent, rewarding every single repetition isn’t always necessary. Strategic reinforcement helps build persistence, focus, and emotional resilience.

Watch closely for Taka’s little “huff” mid-session. That moment tells a story. He expected his paycheck… didn’t get it yet… worked through the frustration… and chose to stay engaged. That is where real learning happens.

Not every dog who pulls is being “stubborn”—sometimes they’ve simply learned that pulling works.

Zuko has a history of pulling hard in his harness, which is common for strong, high-energy breeds like husky mixes. By thoughtfully introducing the gentle leader and pairing it with clear communication, consistency, and reinforcement, we helped him learn that pulling no longer moves him forward… but checking in, slowing down, and walking with his handler does.

Training isn’t about forcing compliance—it’s about changing outcomes so dogs can make better choices. 🐾

Blue was on a mission when the door opened, taking the window of opportunity to slip through, pass the guards, and steal the cat food inside. This isn't just impolite, it's dangerous and could cause his owner to fall. Door manners have been one of Blue's most important training goals for his owner's safety.
Everyone wants to feel included, so instead of punishing the behavior to drive Blue away, we gave him a new mission when the door opens. Blue doesn't run past the guards anymore because he is officially on guard duty! He could still choose to go for the bowl of cat food instead of working for my tiny treats, but all he really wants is a job with a role to play. The door opening was an exciting event for Blue, signaling activity from people joining and leaving. He included himself by demanding attention and taking food for his trouble. Now he knows how to join in, by sitting and watching over the door so we can pet him as we pass safely.
I love how focused he is in this video, how he catches himself almost get up when he hears the bowls clang, and how much more interested he is in his next instruction than what's waiting inside. Mission accomplished Agent Blue!

We are SO PROUD of this sweet girl and how far she's come! Roxy has spent most of her life in rescue because she was scared of strangers. She feared the worst and reacted first, but she's really just a big love bug. Now she's making new friends, learning commands, and has overcome her leash fear to practice taking walks with us! We're so excited for the future her progress will bring. You're a rockstar Roxy!!! 🤩

Walker had the BEST time at the LNK TXK 2nd Annual Waggin’ Weiner Run! 🐾🌭

From scoring a delicious pup cup from Sip Shop Drink Co. (safe to say it didn’t last long) to picking out some healthy goodies from Zoey’s Simple Pleasures Dog Treats, this pup was living his best life!

Dogs Delulu was especially proud of him for showing off his good manners the whole time—such a good boy!

We love supporting local vendors—especially when they make tails wag this much.

Using excessive force desensitizes dogs and makes the communication tools we use less efficient, the opposite of our goal in training. It also creates an unsustainable dynamic for the dog and owner based on managing conflict rather than communicating with clarity. Your dog's bloodshot eyes and fresh cough after training are not just from allergies and you don't have to jerk the leash to handle your dog❗ Every dog is different and learns their own way, but no creature learns new skills with threats alone. Punishment is for enforcement, and we can't enforce things we didn't teach them to understand first. That isn't training, it's abuse.

True dog training is based on clear communication and relationship building that allows you to thrive together for years to come. Blue has been practicing his down stay, holding position in increasingly challenging circumstances for longer lengths of time. His trainer thought this would be more difficult for him, tempting him to move and testing his trust. But he just watched the show as she walked in circles, entertained by the odd behavior while enjoying "free" snacks 🤡🤡🤡
