Prickly Pear Cat Rescue and TNR We are a small nonprofit organization dedicated to helping Phoenix area East Valley cats. We began Prickly Pear Cat Rescue and TNR in the fall of 2021.

We have always been passionate about animal welfare and after a few years of working with our city to Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) community cats, along with working with other rescues for resources for adoptable kittens from local colonies, we decided to direct our efforts into creating and running a nonprofit organization so that we can continue this important work. This change in direction was du

e to the city deciding to end its funding of the TNR program and our need to continue fundraising to help these cats in a humane manner. We are a small no-kill organization with the goals of ensuring that local community cats are cared for with adequate food, safe shelter, spay and neuter, community education, and placing adoptable cats in homes.

💔 Please keep Sophie in your thoughts as she begins a new battle. 💔

Not to be outdone by Xavier and Struggle Bus, our sweet Sophie has decided she needed some extra attention too. After being spayed, Sophie started having some ongoing gut issues, and her recent bloodwork is pointing toward a possible FIP diagnosis.

We aren’t going to wait and hope things improve on their own. We’re going to start her on the 84-day FIP treatment protocol and give her the best chance possible to get back to feeling like herself. ❤️

This treatment is a long road and comes with significant costs, including the medication itself and the continual bloodwork needed to monitor her progress and make sure she is responding well.

This will be the 6th FIP case our rescue has taken on, and we are incredibly hopeful that Sophie will become our 6th FIP survivor. We’ve seen these amazing kittens fight through this before, and we’re ready to fight alongside her every step of the way.

If you’re able to donate toward Sophie’s treatment, we would be incredibly grateful. If you can’t donate, sharing her story helps more than you know and gives Sophie more people cheering her on. ❤️

A quick update on Struggle Bus! ❤️🐾

We’re happy to share that Struggle Bus has been recovering well from his cleft palate repair surgery. He’s also been fighting through a respiratory infection that started developing shortly before his surgery, but he’s been doing great and continues to improve.

We have a follow-up appointment this Thursday to make sure everything has been healing properly and that his recovery is still on the right track. We’re hopeful that we’ll get another good report and continue seeing him get stronger every day.

We want to thank everyone again for the incredible amount of support, donations, and kind words you’ve shared for Struggle Bus. Your generosity helped make his surgery possible, and your encouragement has meant so much to us while he’s been recovering.

We have a wonderful update on Struggle Bus! ❤️

His cleft palate repair surgery was today, and we're happy to share that everything went well. He is now back home and resting comfortably as he begins his recovery journey.

The next few weeks will be very important as he heals, and we'll be keeping a close eye on him to make sure there are no complications. While he still has some recovery ahead of him, we're incredibly relieved that the surgery was successful and that he's home where he belongs.

We also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated, shared his fundraiser, sent kind words, and kept Struggle Bus in their thoughts today. Your support made this surgery possible, and we are so grateful to have such an amazing community standing behind our rescue and our cats.

Struggle Bus has touched so many hearts with his sweet personality, and we're looking forward to watching him heal and thrive. We'll continue to share updates as he recovers.

Tomorrow is a big day for Struggle Bus. ❤️

Our sweet little guy will be undergoing surgery to repair his cleft palate. While we're understandably nervous, we're also incredibly grateful that this procedure is possible thanks to the amazing support of our community.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has donated, shared his story, and cheered him on along the way. Your kindness and generosity have helped make this surgery possible, and we truly couldn't do it without you.

Please keep Struggle Bus in your thoughts tomorrow as he undergoes surgery and begins his recovery journey. He is one of the sweetest kittens we've ever had the pleasure of caring for, and we're all rooting for a successful procedure and a smooth recovery.

This week was a big milestone for our kittens (except Struggle Bus)—they were spayed and neutered! 🐾❤️

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported these little ones throughout their journey. Whether you've donated, shared our posts, sent supplies, or cheered them on, your support has helped make this important step possible.

The kittens are now resting, recovering, and receiving plenty of love and care as they heal. Once we are confident that everyone has fully recovered and is feeling their best, they will be ready to begin the next chapter of their lives: finding their forever homes! 🏡

We are so excited to start introducing these wonderful kittens to potential adopters in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for adoption announcements, photos, and individual spotlights on each kitten.

🌈 Happy Pride Month from Prickly Pear Cat Rescue and TNR! 🌈

This June, we celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and the many individuals who make our world a kinder, more compassionate place.

At Prickly Pear Cat Rescue and TNR, we believe that every life has value and that everyone deserves to feel safe, loved, and accepted for who they are. The spirit of rescue is rooted in compassion, understanding, and creating a better future—values that Pride Month reminds us to celebrate every day.

Our rescue would not be possible without the diverse community of supporters, volunteers, fosters, adopters, and advocates who stand together to help cats in need. We are grateful for each and every one of you.

💙 Fundraiser for Struggle Bus 💙

We’re asking for your help for one of the sweetest kittens to ever come through our rescue.

Struggle Bus is scheduled for surgery on June 10th to repair a cleft palate. Thankfully, his cleft affects only the soft palate, which means his prognosis is very optimistic and we are hopeful for a full recovery. However, the surgery is expensive, with the high-end estimate coming in at just over $4,000.

Struggle Bus has stolen our hearts from the moment he arrived. Despite everything he has been through, he remains a happy, loving kitten who never misses an opportunity for cuddles and playtime. He has formed a special bond with Xavier, our panleukopenia survivor who developed cerebellar hypoplasia (wobbly cat syndrome). The two have become inseparable, and Struggle Bus has been the perfect brother and companion to Xavier.

We have our fingers crossed that surgery and recovery go smoothly, and we are incredibly grateful to have this opportunity to give him the healthy future he deserves.

This litter of kittens has faced more challenges than most, and we couldn't have gotten this far without the support of our amazing community. Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared our posts, sent supplies, and cheered these kittens on along the way.

I just want to put this out there, and sorry for the rambling. I’m really upset.

If you see an obvious case of animals cruelty please report it to the police immediately.

I have been away from one of my jobs for the last week except to pop by to refill the feeding station. When I went to work yesterday a coworker let me know that one of the cats had been a victim of human violence and the body was found by a landscaper. No one thought to alert the police so now I’m trying to give them third hand information almost a week after the incident to investigate.

Please call immediately. No animal deserves what was done to this cat. In addition, humans who harm animals also tend toward increasing violence towards other animals and humans. This needs to be taken seriously by everyone.

We are all concerned for the safety of the remaining colony and any humans whoever did this interacts with.
