HOT WEATHER PSA FOR HORSE OWNERS

As summer temperatures start climbing, don’t forget our horses feel the heat too. Please keep a close eye on them during these hot days:
-Fresh, clean water available at all times
-Shade and airflow are essential
-Electrolytes can help during extreme heat or heavy sweating
-Ride early morning or later in the evening when it’s cooler
-Watch for signs of heat stress: excessive sweating (or no sweating), rapid breathing, lethargy, stumbling, or dehydration

A quick check on your horses during the hottest part of the day can make all the difference. Stay safe, stay hydrated, and give your equine friends a little extra care this summer.

🌱🐴 Spring Tune-Up Time! 🐴🌱

As the weather warms up, it’s time to get back in shape!
Looking for help getting your horse back up and going, or starting lessons for yourself to learn something new? We can offer local suggestions!

💉 Spring Vaccines Reminder
Check in with your veterinarian to make sure your horse is up to date before show and trail season kicks off. Warmer temps = more bugs = higher risk! Always good to have a current coggins/health check in the books before hauling!

🐎 Legging Up Your Horse
If your horse had a winter break, take it slow:
➡️ Start with walking + light trot
➡️ Gradually add more time & intensity
➡️ Build fitness over weeks—not days

⚠️ Remember: Tendons & ligaments need time to adjust too! Watch for soreness and don’t rush the process.

💪 Rider Reset
Don’t forget your own fitness—core strength and balance go a long way this time of year!

Since our founding in 1967, our club has been dedicated to preserving the spirit of horsemanship, community, and friendly competition. For decades, we’ve proudly hosted quality horse shows that bring together riders of all ages and experience levels in a welcoming, family-friendly environment, right here in Tecumseh, NE!

Each season, we host two fun shows that welcome participants from near and far, as well as a special county/Rough Rider member-only open show held the week prior to the county fair. Whether you’re competing in the arena or cheering from the sidelines, there’s something here for everyone to enjoy!

Our club is built on tradition, sportsmanship, and a shared love of horses—and we’re always excited to welcome new faces.
