This page was created to help reunite lost pets and their owners in Tallassee, Alabama. The page is setup so that visitor posts show immediately - no admin permissions are required so your posts are visible to everyone seeing this page. We encourage you to post a clear photo of your pet along with the owners contact information. If your pet is located, please let us know or update your post. On your post, please add the neighborhood and/or the specific location in which your pet disappeared from in Tallassee.
Place food, water and scent items (your clothing, dog bed, etc) where the dog was last seen. If you live near woods, leave a scent trail to guide your animal home.
Search everywhere that your dog could possibly fit (underneath buildings and vehicles, inside old sheds, etc…). As soon as you notice your pet is missing, canvas the area. Most pets are found within a close radius of home. Go door to door, talk to all your neighbors and their kids. Don't be shy about asking for permission to poke around your neighbor's porch or garage in case your pet is hiding. Vary Search Times! Get out multiple times during the day. Look in the morning, afternoon, and night, especially because cats are more active at dawn and dusk. Shy dogs might also stir more then, as there are less people out during these times of the day.
Contact local animal control, vet clinics, humane societies and more. Once you've notified the shelter of your missing pet, follow up in person. Although you can describe the animal over the phone, many dogs and cats look alike, and shelter personnel could easily overlook your pet. Check back with the shelter often, as your pet could show up after your first call.
Take it to social media!! Post and share good clear photos of your pet! Check the local lost and found pages.
Hang Posters and Yard Signs. It may be an old-fashioned strategy, but posters can help raise awareness about your missing pet. Hang signs around your neighborhood and in veterinarian offices, community centers, and grocery stores. Remember to clearly state that you're looking for a lost pet and to include a good photo of the animal, your phone number, and the location where your pet was last seen. The day your pet went missing may help, but the further away that date gets, the less people may pay attention to it.
