We haven’t posted anything in quite a while and we have a lot of catching up to do. We’re going to start with the beautiful Mustang Tesla ❤️Tesla had a really rough start in the human world, she was completely misunderstood, and eventually labeled as unfit, unsafe, and needing to be euthanized. Her owner at the time decided to try to make some money off of her and sold her to Sunnyside feedlot. This ended up being the best thing that could’ve happened to her as she was brought to the attention of some caring humans who were actually able and willing to help her develop into the amazing Horse that she truly is. After receiving lots of decompression and downtime, she was sent to several months of training, which brought out her ability as a magnificent trail horse. Tesla is now living in central Oregon with her loving human Sarah, living her best life.

Pablo has finally completed hoof trimming 101!😊 This is HUGE! For those of you not familiar with Pablo’s story, this beautiful boy was used as a Tripping Horse in a Rodeo. This barbaric practice that some humans find entertaining often kills the animals involved. Those who are “lucky” enough to survive are severely traumatized, sometimes permanently. Getting Pablo to be anywhere around ropes without panicking, and allowing his legs and feet to be touched has been a long, often discouraging journey. But here we are❤️ Look how relaxed he is…. This puts Pablo one giant step closer to being Adoptable. We know his perfect Home is out there somewhere, just waiting for him to be ready. He’s getting so close…

Halo is such a lovebug❤️ She is free to roam the property during the day along with her posse of 4 minis. Halo loves to nibble grass and go visiting with the other horses. But when she sees some humans she always walks over for some petting and kisses. Halo was not treated well in her past life, but she has chosen to forgive and move on. We could all learn so much from this girl. Sweetest mare we’ve ever met🥰

RIP Oscar..💔
You we’re so loved, by so many.
Oscar was recently adopted after having spent 2 1/2 years here at the rescue. He went to a lovely new home with his best donkey friend Scamp. He had settled in and was so happy. And then July 4th happened. The neighbors of his new home put on their backyard Fireworks show. Oscar running in sheer terror from noises he didn’t and couldn’t understand broke his neck. This should not of happened. Oscar spent the first nine years of his life in horrible circumstances. It was obvious he had spent very little time outside, that he had been locked in a stall. He didn’t really understand what affection was or being touched. His halter had grown into his face -we had to literally cut it off of him. He was neglected and left alone for years and then dumped at a livestock auction. When we got him we were committed to changing all that. Oscar thrived under the care and attention he received. He was kind, smart, loving and so much fun to be around. Oscar loved life to the fullest. He loved humans, he loved all other animals. Oscar was the one we always put new animals in with because he was so gentle with them. He made them feel safe and welcomed. He should have lived a very long and happy life. He deserved at least that. The impact we humans cause by the irresponsibility and selfishness of our actions is overwhelming. Fireworks. When will people understand the impact fireworks have on so many. The terror and devastation fireworks cause not only to our domestic animals but our wildlife. How in the world is it worth it? Our hearts are broken Trying to grasp what happened to Oscar…
He was one of a kind💔

Finding loving, responsible homes for the Equines that we Rescue is part of our job. But sometimes it is the hardest part of our job … saying goodbye to these two lovely boys is both heartwarming and heartbreaking. A cascade of feelings and memories has been playing through my mind for the past two weeks, knowing that their time with us is nearing its end. . My heart is full that these two will remain together….but there is also an enormous sense of loss. They will be so missed 💔 Oscar and Scamp came in with no confidence, scared and nervous. They leave here knowing who they are, full of confidence and enjoying life being Equines. They are healthy and happy and have become the best of friends. Scamp the Mini came to us all the way from Texas while Oscar was an Oregon donkey. Neither had known love from humans or had any training. During their 2+ years here they formed an amazing bond that we knew had to be honored - that they needed to be kept together. Thanks to Kate Beardsley and Mustangs to the Rescue for playing Matchmaker and help to find the perfect home for the boys.

“30 is the new 20” says the beautiful Miss Halo. This lovely senior continues to outshine her younger companions ❤️ sweetest mare you’ll ever meet. Not sure who was luckier that day we saw her abandoned at the feedlot…her or us. We love her to pieces and are in awe of her ability to let go of a sad past, choosing to live her life to the fullest. You can learn a lot from an old horse….

Little Bandit is getting ready to start interviewing Humans to find his new home❤️ Bandit is 3.5 years old. He is currently just over 11H and still has some growing to do. He is gentle and kind. While still young and playful, he is very calm and level headed. We think Bandit would be a fantastic cart pony. Bandit is truly a clean slate. Though he was neglected as a baby, he has shown zero signs of physical abuse. He is curious and funny and smart🥰 He is a true Medicine Hat pony. If you think you might be the right Human for Bandit, contact us for a meet.

Henry was Adopted! ❤️ This lovely little man had such a hard life, and experienced so many things that a sweet boy should never have to experience. Henry is one of the gentlest and forgiving souls we’ve ever met. It took a LONG time to get him to let go of his distrust, but once he did every day with him was like opening the biggest, most beautifully wrapped present under the Christmas tree. He has landed in the perfect Home for him 🥰 He loves and trusts Rachael, his new Human, and has bonded well with his new Horse Buddy. They dressed up together for the Holidays and Henry accompanied his new friend to their Farrier appointment lending much needed moral support😊 We are so happy for this sweet boy in his new Life. …

We just had to join in on the Snow Day pictures 😊 Everyone is finally able to get out and enjoy it today. Here are a few of the Hooligans. FYI, Halters are on intentionally because when we let a large group out together they can be little devils when it comes time to go back into their pens 😆 Total mayhem, but totally worth it

Nash was Adopted ❤️ We’ve had some really spectacular Adoptions this year, but Nash, the last of our Sheldon Mustangs, will always be very near and dear to our Hearts. Nash traveled all the way to Oregon from South Dakota in his Mamas belly during the extreme winter storm of December 2016. He was born here at the ranch on earth day, May 2017. It has been quite a journey with this young man. The first couple months he was such a sweetheart and then he went to being a little Hellion! Biting us and jumping up on our backs and just being a little hooligan😆 He soon grew out of that phase, and became a gentle, curious and willing soul. Spending over four years with him, working with him and watching the changes he’s gone through as he’s grown up has been quite a gift to be a part of it all. His new family adores and appreciates him fully. Best part is he’s only an hour away so we can visit them 😊

Elliot is loving his new home in Central Oregon! April sent some photos of Elliot and his new buddy Lukas. Lukas is going through some desensitizing and April says that Elliot is always right there to support Lukas and show him how to be a brave boy😊 Lukas is learning to stand tied and be tarped out, and Elliot is right by his side. This is a big deal because when Elliot first arrived any time he was asked to do something he deemed frightening he would literally jump over the person holding or leading him, like a wild goat. Now he’s helping others…Thank you to all who support our work and help equines like Elliot find their way into loving Homes❤️
