Yesterday was historic for us. Syracuse Recreation & Rescue was able to distribute the first check from the funds raised at our inaugural event, Kickball for K9’s. Because of your participation and support, we raised nearly $5,000 in total to support local animal welfare efforts with the majority of proceeds distributed to rescue organizations that participated on September 20.
Yesterday we were honored, excited, optimistic and emotional presenting CNY SPCA with $1,250 to support their ongoing animal welfare efforts here in Central NY. We were also able to hang with Thor, who is the most lovable, 8 year-old rescue dog that has unbelievably been at the shelter over 400 days, along with several other long-term residents that are all looking for a way out of the shelter. Please consider adopting these sweet souls.
Syracuse Recreation & Rescue is launching to help increase exposure for shelter animals and improve adoption rates through natural engagement with people in everyday activities. We are also working to increase access to specialty vet services and advocating for legislative change that can support and strengthen the local animal welfare network. We are in our infancy and these are our first steps. We couldn’t have done it without you. Please share, follow and support us so we can grow this new initiative for our community. Thank you to all of you and thank you to CNYSPCA for joining us in solidarity at Kickball for K9’s.
We have much more in store: checks to deliver, pics from Kickball for K9’s, an exciting new event to announce that will directly integrate shelter animals, and several opportunities to pair shelter animals with league nights at Play SSA to facilitate long-term exposure for shelter animals with potential adopters. 🙏
