Not all eggs are created equal; and that’s a GOOD thing!

When you buy farm fresh eggs, you might notice some differences compared to store bought eggs. Here’s what’s totally normal:

✔️ Double yolks – A bonus egg! Usually from young hens just getting started
✔️ Different shell colors – From creamy white to deep brown, even blue/green depending on the breed
✔️ Odd shapes or sizes – Nature isn’t factory-perfect
✔️ Spots inside the egg – Called “meat spots” or “blood spots”—completely safe to eat
✔️ Bright orange yolks = more flavor & firm whites

Store eggs are mass-sorted and standardized…

Chicken $3 for 12 or $5 or 18
Duck $5 for 12 or $7 for 18

For a limited stock I also have:
Turkey $6 for 12 (1)
Goose $5 for 6 (1)
I plan to let these ladies hatch some clutches this spring hense the limited stock.

I wanted to share how I check eggs for freshness.

Also, I would like to make a correction to statistics I stated about meat/blood spots. White eggs its actually less than 2% while brown eggs are up to 64% more likey to have them. I do candle my eggs before selling just like the commercial eggs, however small spots can still occur in both farm or commercial productions.
