Swingin' Goat Farms

Swingin' Goat Farms We are maaaawe-some :) We are a cooperation between three farms-two in town and one in the country. We are "beginning" farmers and have big dreams and ideals.

Follow along on our blogs and site as we patiently and excitedly add more projects and products to what we have to offer as farms. Right now we are home (at Sugar Creek, the country farm) to pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, and rabbits (as well as barn cats and dogs). Check out our website for some of the many products we have to offer, including natural living items; wool, angora, and mohair fiber, yarn, and roving; eggs; rabbit meat, and more added all the time.

Two lambs arrived this morning-rather unexpected with such a young ram taking over last year.

GWAS has been spinning up the last of our inventory (that was for sale-I have my own stash yet) of ready-to-go roving into squishy, lovely yarn. It is fun to see what others can do with your products!

"Unchain My Heart" 68 super puffy bulky squooshy pouffy yards of locally raised Cheviot Doll wool from Thorn. It's a dark brown wool, overdyed with rich rusty reds and oranges. 3.65 oz, $22

I love this yarn. I need to buy a couple more Lincoln fleeces and have them turned into roving, as this stuff is fantastic to spin into fine, even yarns. I love my Cheviot Dolls, the their staple length lends itself to lumpier bumpier yarn (for now-I am working on breeding that length up a bit).

Poor Valentino is really hating the cold this winter. I have been trying to give him extra attention but he is so ready for spring and fresh grass and tired of all this cold and snow.

All that yarn I have been posting for ages with no link to buy? You can buy it now, from Alpaca Landing, the farm from which all the fiber came. All of it would be beautiful as drapey scarves and shawls. Check it out here: https://squareup.com/market/alpaca-landing

Small alpaca farm in the heart of Virginia's Shenandoah Valley. We have homegrown 100% alpaca yarn and felt available for sale.
