Stow Kittens is a small group of foster homes in MA that provides foster care and adoption services for Red Clay Animal Rescue, a rescue group out of Savannah, GA. All the kittens have had basic Veterinary care - examination, deworming, age appropriate vaccines, and have been spayed/neutered and microchipped. Adoptions are done on a first meet, first adopt basis. Anyone interested in adopting a ca

t or kitten will need to complete our adoption application https://forms.gle/GcXhE3KZeMWW5qaU9 in order to find a time to come and meet all of the available kittens. You MUST meet the kittens in order to adopt; we do not hold or reserve kittens unless medically necessary. The adoption agreement you'll sign at the time of adoption requests that you provide a lifelong loving indoor home, provide regular Veterinary care, and do not have them declawed. A donation to Red Clay Animal Rescue is requested at the time of adoption to help support their continued rescue efforts. Donations can be made via Venmo, cash, check, or PayPal. Since Red Clay is a 501c3 organization, the donation form doubles as a receipt for tax purposes.

Rusty is STILL looking for his forever home!

This lovable character has an undeniable yearning to be loved by absolutely everyone he meets! He rarely stops purring, and has recently started to make the most adorable tiny meows when he feels his food bowl needs a refill. He prefers food first, love second, but then playtime is a must. He loves feather wand toys as well as catnip mice. He's VERY good about using the sisal scratching posts and likes to look over his shoulder to make sure his foster mom sees that he's being the best boy. Once he gets a little praise for his scratching, he heads over for a head bump and butt scratch.

Little is known about Rusty's beginnings before he hopped into the car of a friendly woman. He most likely belonged to a local cat colony in Savannah, GA, but must have managed to dodge the traps for TNR events. He's definitely had a rough start to life if his face and ears are any indication. We suspect he was likely the victim in a few cat altercations as he is positive for FIV, which is transmitted by deep bite wounds from an infected cat. Like HIV, FIV can reduce immune tolerance to infections. Unlike humans, cats with FIV can be kept indoors so that their exposure to infectious disease, parasites, and other health hazards are kept to a minimum. This means they can live long, happy lives just like other cats. He can even live with FIV negative cats, provided the other cats don't bite him!

Rusty is now neutered, microchipped, current on FVRCP and Rabies vaccines, FIV positive, Felv negative, and has received general deworming medication with a recent negative f***l test for parasites.

Adoption event canceled! We'll schedule another event when we have more kittens available to meet. We still have three fosters for adoption. Sandwich is an orange male but not suited for an adoption event as he's on the shy side with crowds, LOVELY one-on-one, Rusty and Zero are AMAZING, but they're both older which doesn't seem to be what anyone is looking for at this time.

This is Sandwich! He is a handsome older orange/cream kitten, about 10 or 11 months old.

While he does spend a lot of time peeking out cautiously from his cat cave, now that he's settled in for a week (and it helps that the rowdy younger kittens are out of here!) he has started coming out and asking us for love. He is a very sweet boy looking for a forever home on the quieter side. He is OK sharing it with others (in Georgia he was fostered with other cats and a calm dog) as long as everyone can BE COOL and give him his space when he needs it. He was rescued by Red Clay Animal Rescue after being found in a marsh with his two brothers. They were both adopted and now it's his turn!

Sandwich is neutered, microchipped, FeLV/FIV negative and current on rabies and FVRCP vaccines. He is being fostered in Bolton. Please reach out to [email protected] if you'd like to meet this creamsicle gentleman!

Here is the full description from his Georgia foster mom:
A masterclass in charm and sass, this handsome fella doesn’t let a kink in his tail break his stride. Full name Grilled Cheese Sandwich, or Sandwich for short, is a handsome lad with an appreciation for personal space. He will happily approach you, but in turn you must present your hand or finger, if he boops it with his nose, the cuddles may commence! And his cuddles know no bounds. Sandwich has been found sharing the warmth with a variety of felines, and even a 50lb husky mix. Sandwich is amazing with cats, picky with dogs (preferring a more relaxed canine companion), but would typically prefer a more quiet home.

Rusty made a new friend today! He's a very gentle guy who loves lap time, brushing, food, and toys.

Meet Rusty!
Rusty is an incredibly lovable cat who, despite his somewhat rugged appearance, has an undeniable yearning to be loved by absolutely everyone he meets! His initial interaction with a human was quite remarkable; he approached a woman in a parking lot, nonchalantly hopped into her car, and seemed ready for an adventure. This spontaneous journey ultimately led him to the vet's office and, subsequently, into the caring environment of foster care with Red Clay Animal Rescue, where he received treatment for an upper respiratory infection and got neutered and microchipped.

This lovable character charms all who encounter him. In his first foster home, he won over the affections of a dog that tends to keep his distance from most cats. He also got along well with the other resident adult cats. His gentle nature made treating his respiratory infection a breeze as he's very good about letting humans do almost anything to him without too much resistance.

He rarely stops purring, and has recently started to make the most adorable tiny meows when he feels his food bowl needs a refill. He prefers attention first, food second, but then playtime is a must. He loves feather wand toys as well as catnip mice. He's VERY good about using the sisal scratching posts and likes to look over his shoulder to make sure his foster mom sees that he's being the best boy. Once he gets a little praise for his scratching, he heads over for a head bump and butt scratch.

Courtesy post - cat in need of a new home!! (Formerly Texas Pete from our 2024 summer group)

Information from his foster family:
Tommy is very shy initially, but as he gets more comfortable with you he is a playful and energetic boy with a lot of love to share. Unfortunately, his current owner has developed a severe allergy and can not keep him. Despite having tried hard, Tommy is in need of a new loving home.

He has spent the past year and a half with his current family - two adults, two children. He's currently staying with his "grandfather" in Brookline, MA and it has only taken a few days for him to adjust to his new surroundings. We think he will do well after a slow introduction to any new situation.

He's been an only cat for the past year and a half, but prior to that he was very friendly with his foster mate kittens, despite being one of the oldest kittens in the foster room. He was gentle while playing with the younger kittens, and could often be found in a bed surrounded by younger kittens.

He enjoys all kinds of food, toys, and all cat things according to his current owner. He has been vaccinated for rabies within the last year and is regularly seen by a vet.

Tommy is neutered, microchipped, Felv/FIV negative and current on his Rabies vaccination. For more information or to find a time to meet him, please contact us through PetFinder, or you can reach out to his owner directly:

UPDATE 4/15/26 Zach and Birdie have been adopted!!

Birdie the Boss & Zesty Zach!

Birdie and Zach didn't know each other until they arrived in MA a few weeks ago. Then, Birdie decided she wanted to be the boss of Zach forever. We're trying to make this girl's dream come true by finding the pair a home together!

Birdie (female, grey and white) is an inquisitive and confident little kitten and is one of the first to greet you when you walk in the door. Zach (male, black) is almost a year old, very sweet but a bit more reserved until he is comfortable in his surroundings. After two weeks with us he is sleeping in laps and actually running laps around the kitten room.

You could say Birdie is happy to lend her confidence to Zach, but it's clear she delights in telling him what to do (play, now!), where to nap (under this blanket, now!) and when a spa treatment is needed (face licks, now!). Birdie is his tough love therapy cat and we're just beginning to see Zach initiate play time with the other foster kittens.

For his part, Zach is content to be led around by the nose. He has a crazy cute primordial pouch with a patch of white fur that we call his "bikini bottom." Pretty awesome for an all black, slinky panther long baby. Zach also deserves credit for putting up with Birdie when she is in PIT VIPER mode (see video).

Birdie was rescued with a group of 4 other tiny kittens, severely underweight with no mother to be found. Her estimated birth date is 10/22/25. Zach was found over the summer wandering alone through the woods next to an apartment complex and has an estimated birth date of 4/17/25. Shortly after his rescue he developed FIP, but was treated and made a complete recovery.

Birdie and Zach are both microchipped, vaccinated, spayed/neutered and Felv/FIV negative. Please email [email protected] for more information on adopting this spirited duo!

PSA about FIP (feline infectious peritonitis) - PLEASE SHARE!

It has recently come to our attention that many Veterinarians are not familiar with the updated information available about FIP (feline infectious peritonitis). This is distressing for a number of reasons, but the most important one is that this once 100% fatal disease is not only treatable, but has an 85% cure rate with treatment (meaning 85% of cats treated will recover).

We reached out to our rescue Veterinarian to see if they would provide us with a brief overview of this disease so that we could pass it along to anyone considering kitten or cat adoption, or anyone who has a cat/kitten so that they can monitor for signs of illness and seek appropriate treatment immediately (and advocate for their cat if their Vet still thinks it's a 100% fatal disease!). There are numerous resources available for Veterinarians and pet owners, for more resources scroll down.

--FIP is caused by a mutation of Feline Enteric Coronavirus (FeCV). Most cats (80-90%) living in multiple-cat environments (including shelters and rescues) have been exposed to FeCV, however, only a small percentage of these cats eventually come down with FIP.
--FIP is a curable disease, but it is important to recognize the signs as soon as possible because untreated, it will become fatal.
--Kittens/young cats with FIP often have a fever that can be waxing and waning.
--They can have a decreased appetite (still eating, just not as much as before), lethargy (not playing or exploring as much as before), and they stop gaining weight.
--Some kittens accumulate fluid in their bellies (this can come on very suddenly and make their bellies look bloated) or in the space around their lungs (which can make it harder for them to breathe).
--FIP is treated with an oral medication that is easy to obtain from a number of reputable compounding pharmacies with your vet’s prescription. Because Veterinary hospitals in MA are not allowed to stock this medication, some Veterinary hospitals have a list of clients who have been through treatment and may have medication left over that you can use to start treatment immediately. The sooner treatment is started, the faster they will recover. **If you're having any trouble finding medication, please reach out to us as we may be able to help**
--It's always worth starting treatment as soon as possible, even if your kitten has fluid in its abdomen or chest cavity. 85% of kittens/cats will show improvement within the first few days of treatment (unfortunately, the other 15% have been sick longer than anyone knew and are too far progressed to respond to medication). Cats that respond well to treatment can be fully cured of this disease.
--The total cost for treatment is variable depending on your Veterinarian's pricing for diagnostics and monitoring visits, but the medication is very affordable, especially when purchased through Specialty Vet Pharmacy or Wedgewood pharmacy (see chart below).
