Teamwork makes the dream work🐶

This is what early socialization looks like in action. Dogs who learn from a young age that good things can be shared, not guarded, grow into dogs who handle situations like this with ease.

Mid-Week Training Drop 📋

Before you can teach anything, you need your dog's attention. And before you can keep it, you have to be worth paying attention to. Getting attention starts with a cue, a word, a sound, even your dog's name, paired with something good. (Yes, the trainer has treats. We're not above bribery, we just call it reinforcement.) Keeping it means building the habit so that checking in with you becomes the detault, not the exception.💯

☀️ CTDGRV Tuesday Tip: Vacation Season & Pet Sitter Safety ☀️

Summer vacations are right around the corner, and while you're making travel plans, don't forget to make a safety plan for your pets!

Many dogs go missing while their families are away due to simple mistakes, unfamiliar routines, or unsecured doors and gates. Taking a little extra time to prepare your pet sitter can make all the difference.

✔️ Vet your pet sitter carefully✔️ Leave detailed care instructions and emergency contacts✔️ Make sure all walks are done on leash✔️ Use secure collars, harnesses, and consider a GPS tracker✔️ Ask sitters to double-check gates, doors, and windows✔️ Never assume your dog will behave the same way when you're away

Remember, even well-adjusted dogs can become stressed when separated from their families, increasing the risk of escaping.

And while you're here, meet Oakley! 🐾 This handsome German Shepherd is available for adoption and looking for his forever home. For more information about Oakley, please visit PAWS CT at pawsct.org.

A little preparation before vacation can prevent a heartbreaking situation.

Sunny days, fresh air, and dogs who are here to learn (and maybe show oft a little). We love this time of year!🐾🐶☀️
