NFL cornerback Alphonso Smith Jr. has tragically killed himself at age 40.

Sources tell TMZ that Alphonso Smith's death is by su***de. Shortly before his death, Smith posted a heartbreaking message on Facebook in which he repeatedly apologized, wrote about battling “demons” and said he had needed help.

Smith was a standout at Wake Forest, earning All-American honors before the Broncos selected him with the 37th overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. He was traded to Detroit a year later and finished his NFL career with 88 tackles and eight interceptions across 42 games.

NFL fans may also remember Smith from a memorable Thanksgiving matchup against Tom Brady and the Patriots in 2010. Smith trash-talked Brady during the game, Smith later admitted, “Tom Brady is not the guy that you should pick a gunfight with.”

Smith was inducted into the Wake Forest Athletics Hall of Fame in 2022.

Disney star Carla Jeffery has died at 33

Carla Jeffery, best known for playing Bree in Disney’s “Z-O-M-B-I-E-S,” died Tuesday, according to her talent agency. Her cause of death has not been released.

Dr. James Harris grew up in Fresno, California, in a household shaped by addiction and instability. His father struggled with addiction and moved in and out of his life, while his mother was largely absent. By 14 he had failed two years of high school and was stealing cars, and at 15 he became a father.

A counselor who saw potential in him helped change his path. Harris went on to earn his medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA before completing his surgical residency at Johns Hopkins.

Three decades later, Harris is a general surgeon and chair of surgery at Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center in Columbia, Maryland, where he also helps train surgical residents. He and his wife Rosina have been married for 34 years and raised three children together.
