What a weekend
I went into this weekend with zero expectations. I had never shown a dog before, Link had never been shown, and I truly had no idea what I was doing. I just wanted to learn, have fun, and see what it was all about.
I honestly don’t think I would have had the confidence to try this on my own. I’m so grateful to the breeders who invited me and took the time to help me all weekend. They answered my million questions, gave me pointers, told me where I needed to be and what I needed to do, and made something that felt really intimidating feel a whole lot less scary.
There is SO much more to showing than I realized. And I have a lot to learn. But I had so much fun.
Link handled the entire weekend better than I could have asked. New place, dogs everywhere, tons of people, strangers putting their hands all over him, females in heat and me trying not to freak out.
Every time we went back into the ring, I felt a little more comfortable. So did he. We were figuring it out together, and that was probably my favorite part of the whole weekend.
I went in hoping we would have fun and not completely embarrass ourselves and somehow I came home with a UKC pointed dog who is officially working toward his championship.
I definitely did not expect to be able to say that especially after our very first show.
I have lots to work on, but I’m already excited for the next one.
So freaking proud of my Linky boy.
Huge shoutout to the ladies who were there and how supportive they were! Thank you! May Caroline AUDREY MONTGOMERY 🫶🏼 Golden Retriever Breeder Mckenna Press- Golden Retriever Breeder Brinton Goldens
