Helping Hearts & Healing Tails Animal Rescue We are a nonprofit 501(c)3 foster based rescue (meaning we don’t have a physical location). We are 100% volunteer. We completely rely on donations to function.

Most importantly this rescue is dedicated to helping animals in the Ligonier PA area and surrounding communities find loving, forever homes. It is our goal to assist in rescuing and rehoming any animals in need. We are a foster based rescue and can only take in so many animals at a given point in time, but if we are full we will try to assist in other arrangements for any animals in need. It is ou

r hope that someday everyone will learn to be responsible pet owners and there will be no need for us, until then, we will be here to help those in need. We are a not for profit charity and have 501(c)(3) status. Medium size derp available for adoption.

Deebo waited 9 MONTHS on a court hold just to emerge into society acting like he personally pays the mortgage and owns several grills.

Before anyone asks:
Deebo is a medium size dog.
He is also a bit dense. Spiritually and physically.

Like if someone took 50 pounds of enthusiasm and compressed it into a bowling ball with legs.

Deebo is playful, cuddly, loving, and good with most other dogs. He enjoys toys, attention, snacks, and inserting himself into situations that do not concern him.

Examples include:
• supervising you in the bathroom
• aggressively helping make the bed
• staring at you while you eat like a Victorian orphan
• launching himself onto your lap with the confidence of a dog half his size

He has the energy of a middle manager at a Buffalo Wild Wings.

This man is built like:
🧱 a cinder block
🥔 a baked potato with feelings
🦛 a travel-sized house hippo

Honestly, Deebo looks like he says things like “you gonna finish that?” while holding a Monster Energy drink.

After waiting almost a year, he deserves a real home with people who appreciate a clingy little meatball with absolutely zero respect for personal boundaries.

🚨 Eddie Needs a Foster or Foster-to-Adopt Home 🚨

Meet Eddison… better known as Eddie. 🐾
A 1 to 2 year old goofball with a permanent smile, airplane ears, and the kind of happy energy that makes you feel like the main character every time you walk outside.

Eddie came from a hoarding situation, so the world is still a little new to him sometimes. He’s learning that toys are fun, routines are good, and humans can actually be trusted instead of treated like mysterious woodland cryptids. Despite his past, he’s incredibly friendly and playful with most people and other dogs.

He’s:
🐶 Up to date on vaccinations
✂️ Scheduled to be neutered
🎾 Playful and social
🦴 Ready to learn and thrive

Eddie would really benefit from some continued training and structure while he adjusts to normal dog life. He’s not “bad,” he’s just a dog who never got the instruction manual. Right now he’s operating on vibes, enthusiasm, and approximately 14 brain cells bouncing around like a Windows screen saver.

What he needs most is a home willing to give him patience, consistency, and love while he figures things out. Underneath the chaos is a genuinely sweet dog who wants attention, fun, and a place to belong.

⚠️ Emergency Foster Needed: Medical Case ⚠️

Mama GiGi survived conditions no dog ever should. By the time she was saved, she was little more than skin stretched over bones, exhausted, starving, and dangerously close to dying.

Now she’s fighting her way back.

She has 3 puppies depending on her, and while they’re doing better, they’re still underweight themselves. GiGi is recovering slowly and carefully, because dogs in this condition cannot simply be fed normally. Too much food too quickly can literally kill them through refeeding syndrome. Her meals must be controlled, scheduled, and monitored closely.

We need an experienced medical foster for this family immediately. Someone who understands emaciation cases, understands structure and monitoring, and understands that recovery is measured in tiny victories.

And GiGi? Somehow, despite all of it, she is still so unbelievably loving. She presses herself into people for affection like she’s trying to make up for every kind touch she never got before. She adores attention, melts for affection, and has a very obvious soft spot for men.

She deserved so much better than what happened to her.

Right now we’re trying to make sure the rest of her story is different. 🖤

Meet Siris: part cuddle bug, part chaos goblin, part professional stuffed animal collector. 🧸✨

This 8 month old Bull Terrier mix is looking for a foster or foster to adopt home where she can continue learning how to be the very best girl. She’s up to date on vaccinations, scheduled to be spayed, and fully equipped with the emotional range of a toddler who just discovered naps and affection.

Siris absolutely loves people and is convinced laps were invented specifically for her. She enjoys other friendly dogs, loves carrying around stuffies like prized treasure, and if you sit down for even half a second… congratulations, you now have a cuddle attachment permanently installed.

She’s still young, playful, goofy, and full of personality. Basically one giant peanut-shaped best friend with legs. 🥜🐾

We need help.

We are looking for someone reliable and trustworthy that would like to help us manage our social media. Obviously the more we post and the more interaction we have with our supporters, the more exposure our dogs get. With the recent influx of dogs, we really need to get their pictures out there and find fosters and adopters.

This isn’t just “posting cute dog pictures.” Social media is one of the biggest tools rescues have. One good post can literally save a life. One share can find a foster. One video can bring in the donations needed for emergency vet care.

You’d be helping dogs that have been neglected, abandoned, abused, forgotten, overlooked, or sitting in kennels waiting for someone to notice them. You’d get to help tell their stories and watch them go from scared and unwanted… to sleeping on someone’s couch surrounded by toys and love.

We know trust is earned, especially with rescue work, so we are looking for someone dependable, compassionate, organized, and willing to work as part of the team. Experience with Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Canva, reels, etc. is a huge plus, but honestly the biggest thing we need is someone who genuinely cares.

There’s no paycheck in rescue. The reward is knowing your post helped a dog find a family instead of spending another night homeless or overlooked.

Today we were contacted by PSP to assist with a hoarding case in Somerset County. Abby’s Angels had also been contacted by Adult Probation for the same incident. Both of our organizations responded to the scene.

We were there the entire afternoon and late into the evening removing over dogs plus birds, a bearded dragon, and a goat from the residence. After we were done the total came to 52 animals.

This was a major undertaking and it could not have been done without the assistance of multiple organizations. We cannot thank everyone enough for pulling together and working to save these animals.

All of the rescues and shelters took multiple dogs and will be in need of funds, as all of the need to be vetted. Our rescue took a large adult, a medium adult (that took a seizure on scene), and a medium adult mother w/6 puppies.
