This is my “crazy Thoroughbred”

But needless to say, I do agree with some people when they say Thoroughbreds can be quirky, odd, hot, and sometimes not the easiest horses to get along with.

But let me tell you, I absolutely LOVE this breed.

This mare can go from jumping around a huge jumper pen and being an intense, competitive show horse to quietly packing around one of my lesson students as a backup horse while I’m away.

THIS is what a relaxed, thinking mindset can do for a horse.

It doesn’t take away their fire, athleticism, or personality. It gives them tools. It teaches them how to think through situations, relax, and take care of the rider on their back.

I wasn’t even there when this video was taken. This was my student and his very lovely mom, and I am over the moon proud of how he rode her. But I’m equally proud of this mare for taking such good care of him.

She’s an intense show horse. She’s quirky. She’s got plenty of Thoroughbred personality. But kids can ride her. I’ve put some of my littlest riders on her, and she completely understands her job and takes care of them.

That, to me, is what good training is about. Not taking the personality out of a horse, but giving them enough tools and confidence to adjust to the rider and situation in front of them.

She truly is one of a kind, and I couldn’t be more proud of her.

Hair for DAYS!

This lovely red guy is a 13-year-old, approximately 14.2-hand gelding with the sweetest, quietest demeanor. He truly aims to please and is the kind of horse that would make a wonderful addition to just about any family.

He walks, trots, and canters in the arena and has the potential to be pretty darn fancy in the show pen! He is more whoa than go and tends to be on the lazier side, but you don't have to constantly get after him to keep him working.

I think he would make an absolutely phenomenal youth horse for a kid looking to gain confidence, continue developing their riding, and potentially step into the show arena. He could also make a great all-around or family horse for someone simply wanting a sweet, enjoyable partner.

He has such a kind demeanor, wants to please, and is just an all-around nice guy to have around. Whether you're looking for something to show, enjoy at home, or add to the family, this handsome red guy has a lot to offer.

And seriously... LOOK AT THAT HAIR!

Are you looking for a phenomenal prospect? Look no further!

This gelding is looking for his person to continue his development and bring out all the potential he has to offer.

He is an extremely smart and athletic horse who picks up on things quickly and really enjoys having a job. He has a great personality and is the type that makes you excited to see what he will become with continued time and consistency.

He is going under saddle and has already been exposed to a variety of things. He has gone over tarps, been out on little trail rides, and continues to gain confidence and experience with everything we introduce him to.

What I really like about this gelding is his potential. He has the brains, athleticism, and willingness to go in a number of different directions. I truly think he could be a phenomenal horse for someone who enjoys developing one and wants a prospect they can make their own.

He is still young in his development, so we are looking for the right person who can continue bringing him along and give him the opportunity to excel.

This awesome gelding is up for your consideration!

7-year-old, 16-hand, flashy, big-boned gelding with a ton of personality. He is the total package and an absolute goofball to have around!

He has done extensive trail riding and has been hauled all over. He is great out on the trails and handles new places and adventures well. In the arena he walks, trots, and canters and has a great foundation underneath him.

While he has not been shown, I think he would make a phenomenal show horse prospect. He has the personality, training, and potential to go in a number of different directions. He could continue on with someone wanting to develop him for the show pen, or he would be just as happy with someone looking for a fun, solid horse to enjoy in the arena and out on the trails.

Sound, healthy, up to date, and ready for his next person.

Both of these young mares had their first experience being shod, and I couldn’t be more proud of them!

This is exactly what we want to see. Horses standing quietly, relaxed, thinking, and trusting the process. Even with the smoke, noise, and completely new experience, they handled everything like they’ve done it a hundred times.

I’m also incredibly grateful for the amazing farriers and people we have around us who take their time and help make these first experiences positive ones.

This is what we’re working toward. Calm, confident horses that can handle new situations without losing their minds.
